The Lubavitcher Center in Northeast Philadelphia was filled to capacity on Motzoei Shabbos Parshas Teruma for the Melave Malka for the Chaya Mushka Gemilus Chesed Free Loan Society.
Some 200 men and women came to the 39th event, instructed by the Rebbe to be held annually, saluting the work of the organization named after Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson OBM.
The gmach, it was reported at the event, has loaned over $3 million in the last five years to Jewish families and individuals.
Honored, posthumously, was Mrs. Sheina Gittel Klein OBM, a dedicated and active member of the local community and mother of Mr. David Klein, the Gmach’s pro-bono accountant.
When the Gmach’s Director Rabbi Zalman Lipsker began praising him charitable dedication, Mr. Klein needed to remind them that it was not him being honored (he has been in the past).
“We are praising you to illustrate how your dear mother succeeded in the chinuch of her son,” replied Rabbi Lipsker who is also the Shliach for Hebrew speaking in the city.
The main speaker was Rabbi Abraham Shemtov, a founding member of the Gmach and Head Shliach to Philadelphia, who recalled the devotion of Mrs. Klein to yiddishkeit.
Mr. Larry Caroline was the emcee, while Shlucha Mrs. Feiga Lipsker and Mrs. Leah Bar were thanked for organizing the event and their year-round dedication to the Gemach.
Always helping people, many times behind the scenes and secretly helping out, not the types who need to be publicly announced. THey should be blessed to continue their shlichus and may they be repaid with health, happiness and nachas from all of their beautiful children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, ka”h.
