Rabbi Sholom Ber Schapiro, Director of the Nissan Mindel Publications (NMP), presents “Historic Treasures.”
Each program shares ‘treasures’ from the archives of Rabbi Schapiro’s father in law, Rabbi Dr. Nissan Mindel OBM, a prolific writer who served as a personal secretary of the 6th and 7th Chabad Rebbes.
The program uncovers fascinating stories, rare artifacts and precious documents from the Chabad-Lubavitch movement.
This week, we are reposting a previous episode due to technical issues.
We are of course familiar with the two right hand people of the Frierdiker Rebbe and the Rebbe, Rabbi Chodakov and Rabbi Mindel. Chosen by the Rabbeim in transitioning Chabad to America from Europe and in establishing the pillars upon which Chabad stands. They are part of the foundation upon which Chabad in America is founded – one of these pillars is Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch.
These two giants had distinct and unique roles in Chabad/Lubavitch: One – in administration and the other in publications. Yet – they shared a common goal – Chinuch.
These two often had discussions about important matters to all of us. One such discussion centered around shlichus and shluchim and some points which were made:
- Shlichus is about chinuch/education and shluchim are mechanchim/educators.
- The yearly Kinus Hashluchim is a time of cheshbon hanefesh/personal accounting
We will share this interesting exchange between Rabbi Chodakov and Rabbi Mindel in tonight’s program.
