During the 2010 mid-terms elections, Lieutenant Colonel Allen West attended an event commemorating the first full year of weekly rallies in support of Israel held at Broward Boulevard and Northeast 3rd Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.
West was running for Congress but was not shy to offer his fierce opinion about the State of Israel, it’s brave citizens and the hypocrisy of the Arab countries supported by the Western World.
West served in the Army in Iraq and was a civilian adviser in Afghanistan. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army but retired after an investigation of his conduct during the interrogation of a suspected terrorist detainee in Taji, Iraq.
He was elected as as the first African-American Republican Congressman from Florida since Josiah T. Walls in 1876.
