Happy Chanukah! I hope you and your family are all enjoying delicious donuts and latkes during this wonderful Yom Tov. However please don’t forget the importance of giving Tzedakah, many Segulos and Zechusim are associated with Tzedakah on Chanukah.
As we begin the Yom Tov of Chanukah and this special time of sharing, I would like to tell you about what we are busy with at CSSY and how you can be a part of it. Sure, I can give you the numbers. 150 families that rely on us for weekly food vouchers and over 250 families for Yomim Tovim, dozens of Yisomim and Almanos being cared for and so much more.
But, how do you quantify the indescribable sense of community, and connection that is so tangibly felt every Shabbos in the homes of Crown Heights families? How do you convey in a letter the feeling of a single mother of 5 knowing that there is someone there who cares for her? Or parents of a troubled teen at the brink of breaking, knowing that there is yet hope? And how can I describe the joy of a young child receiving a new pair boots to keep her warm during frigid winter days? I can’t.
But I can share with you some of their stories, eight to be exact. Eight stories of how CSSY impacted real people in our community. Hopefully this will inspire you to continue making an impact on needy Crown Heights families who are relying on your support.
Our efforts come with large financial obligations and it is only with your partnership that we are able to continue our vital work on behalf of Crown Heights families. We must raise over $180,000 to continue our efforts in helping our community. CSSY needs your help now more than ever. These are your family, your friends, and your neighbors. Only with charitable contributions from caring individuals like you, can we continue to unconditionally help others.
For the next eight days CSSY will be running a Chanukah Gelt fundraiser. Each night of Chanukah we will highlight the ways in which CSSY assists our community. Please visit www.cssy.org/gelt to hear the stories of your families, neighbors and relatives.
I ask you to consider; as we continuously dig deep to find new ways to reach out and help families in our community, please dig deep to expand your level of partnership and support, and respond as generously as you are able online at www.CSSY.org/Gelt.
In the merit of your kindness, may Hashem bestow abundant Brachos for you and your entire family. May the ever increasing light of Chanukah bring ever greater light into your lives and ours, illuminating our world with wisdom, goodness and kindness.
Sincerely,
Benzion Stock
