900 Attorneys and Judges attended the 11th Annual Jewish Law Symposium on Tuesday, September 26st at the Birchwood Manor, in Whippany. The Symposium featured a panel discussion entitled: “Law, Medicine and the Pursuit of justice.”
The Honorable Paul Fishman, former U.S. Attorney for the District of NJ was the featured presenter at the event, and Rabbi Shalom Lubin, Founder of the Jewish Law Symposium & Chabad of SE Morris County moderated a panel discussion featuring: Dr. Arthur L. Caplan, Internationally Acclaimed Bioethicist and NYU Professor of Bioethics, Francine Halushka Katz Esq., Senior Healthcare Attorney, Axiom Law – Life Sciences Group, and Rabbi Michael J. Broyde Legal Scholar at Emory University School of Law.
After a buffet dinner reception, Rabbi Shalom Lubin began the program by thanking all the attendees and sponsors, and shared the significance of the symposium being just before Yom Kippur.
“The laws and ethics of the Talmud have served as a cornerstone of humanity’s civil and moral infrastructure, while shaping its’ legal judicial systems. This year we will compare and contrast legal reasoning and adaptation between Talmudic and American Law, focusing particularly on the legal and ethical dilemmas related to balancing Individual Rights and Societal Obligations in the Ethics of Healthcare Law”, said Lubin
