Mechanchim directly touch the future of Klal Yisroel by guiding, teaching, and hopefully deeply inspiring our children and youth to Torah, Yiras Shomayim and Darkei Hachassidus.
This concept is what drives the Menachem Education Foundation’s commitment to enhancing our schools and supporting the vital work of our educators. MEF has built a repetoire of workshops, mentoring, content and standards to help principals and teachers acquire and grow their leadership, classroom, and teaching skills over the past decade.
That same dedication and focus is now being deployed in MEF’s newest offering: a unique opportunity to learn and refine the skills needed to organize and run a mosad chinuch on the executive level.
With the integral participation of Rabbi Yitzchok Wolf, dean of Cheder Lubavitch Hebrew Day School of Chicago, this new series of intensive workshops is designed to equip new and aspiring menahalim to hit the ground running.
Rabbi Zalman Shneur, Executive Director of MEF, says there are currently 9 major Chabad schools and education institutions that are looking to fill the role of a Menahel.
“The Menahel Moisad Chinuch is one of the most important positions in Lubavitch today,” he explains. “The Menahel does not only lead his school, but also shapes the community in a real way.
Rabbi Shneur says that many Moisdois Chinuch have reached out to him to find the right person to lead their Moisad forward, “but it is not an easy role to fill and the right candidates are not readily available.”
He said that under Rabbi Wolf’s guidance, the organization has committed itself to meet this need by building such leaders in this program.
From truly understanding the school clientele and environment, to hiring of staff and establishing guidelines for curriculum, to building a powerful fundraising machine and setting a fair tuition policy, to interacting with the local Federation and the local authorities, and much more, participants will leave empowered to guide and make an impact on their schools – and their communities – in the best possible way.
MEF’s interactive training style and built-in mentoring offers what’s needed to make this dream a reality. We explore what it really means to head a Chabad school – what makes it a Chabad school? What are your responsibilities to your parents, your students, and the Rebbe – and how do you meet them in today’s challenging environment?
The program includes 7 professional development workshops of approximately 2 days each, to take place in different locations over 18 months, and beginning 19-21 Adar I (February 24-26) in Los Angeles, CA. Participants will visit institutions in each city to gain insight into successful techniques and approaches.
Join our dynamic group as we prepare to lead these vital Moisdos into the next generation!
New and aspiring Executive Directors are invited to join MEF’s Menahalei Mosdos Chinuch Program, starting 19-21 Adar I (Feb 24-26, 2019) in Los Angeles, CA, b’shaah tovah u’mutzlachas, and continuing over the next 18 months in other locations across the U.S.

Spot on. Same goes for teachers.
If only the youth (from high school all the way thru smicha) would be taught social studies (that would help knowing how to “understand school clientele and environment”) personnel management (hiring of staff) educational infrastructure (to establish “guidelines for curriculum”) financial management and basics (to build “a powerful fundraising machine and setting a fair tuition policy”) , and classroon management, teaching skills (to enable good teaching)….
This got to be viewed with like when filling a CEO position at a fortune 500… I am not certain the Menhel has to be from Chabad and it certainly needs to be someone that has done this over a decade (perhaps even two decades minimum).
Yes! There is a tremendous amount of work to do! The next frontier! Forget about a cartoon of a chabad house on the moon, let’s see the dedication, change, inspiration, and professionalism in the classroom!
MEF is only looking to build, not put down.
That is why they are seeing Hatzlacha.
Yeilchu machayil el chayil together with all dedicated mechanchim worldwide.
Chabad has lost it’s talent to shlichus (BH for that)
In the process of expanding the Rebbe’s efforts abroad we lost focus on our own. I don’t believe anyone outside of the ALIYAH institute truly know about the damage the schools have caused our youth. They are stuck on a 1900 way of teaching and curriculum and any child that doesn’t fit into this box (1/20) is going to fail.
The system needs to change with the times.
I wish MEF a lot of hatzlacha in revamping our current disaster of a education system.
Thank you for investing in a professional way!
Hatzlacha and surly these principles will hasten the coming of Moshiach through their great work!
Perhaps if they permitted the boys to learn these subjects in yeshiva they would be better prepared to run organizations when they graduate.
The Israeli Menahalim and Mechanchim have to be brought up to date with today’s bochurim. The yeshivas are good – but can be amazing! The learning is there – but they are out of touch with today’s 21st century bochur. This leads to frustration and at times yeshiva being “boring” – which turns bochurim elsewhere. Thank you MEF for your wonderful work for the next generation.
This is a beautiful thing that is being done. it’s important to screen those who are going to fillin such a jobs that they are The made from the right material to do such a job. my point is there is two type of bakers one who appreciates the art of making a beautiful cake and put his heart and soul in it and one who takes a job and does it just because he needs the job.
