The most recent visitor to Lubavitch World Headquarters – 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights was the Kretshnif Rebbe of Kiryat Gat, Rabbi David Moshe Rosenbaum, but he certainly can’t be considered a stranger.
During his tour on Tuesday, he was welcomed by Rabbi Chaim Baruch Halberstam and Rabbi Mendel Eisenbach of the WLCC Visitors Center at 770.
The Kretshnif Rebbe first went into the Rebbe‘s room where the Rebbe met, guided, blessed, and communicated with thousands of people over the years. The room now serves as a small Shul.
He also visited the WLCC broadcasting room from which the Rebbe’s lengthy farbrengens were transmitted throughout the world, using technology that wasn’t common back in the day.
He later visited the adjacent Agudas Chassidei Chabad Library, where he was welcomed by Rabbi Berel Levine, the director and author of seforim. Together, they reviewed manuscripts and artifacts.
What surprised his hosts during the visit and the conversations was the extent of his familiarity with the 770 building and his knowledge of the Rebbe and his teachings.
It turns out that the Kretshnif Rebbe used to be a regular at 770, attending the Rebbe’s farbrengens and passing through the “Sunday Dollars.”
He is known to be proficient in the teachings of Chassidus Chabad and presents a weekly shiur in the book of Tanya, authored by the Alter Rebbe, founder of Chabad-Lubavitch. He even named his son Menachem Mendel, after the Rebbe.
All this made his visit to 770 with some of his Chassidim not only special but also highly personal.
