President Joe Biden called Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday evening as Israeli President Isaac Herzog prepared to board a plane for Washington, DC.
The Prime Minister’s Office described the conversation between the two leaders as a “warm and long conversation.”
Netanyahu’s office said the focus of the conversation was the strengthening of the strong alliance between the two countries, thwarting the threats from Iran and its proxies and expanding the circle of regional peace; and the continuation of efforts to de-escalate and stabilize the situation in Judea and Samaria (renewing the Aqaba-Sharm El-Sheikh process with the Palestinian Authority).
Netanyahu updated the US President about the “reasonableness” bill that is slated to be passed next week by the Knesset and on the prime minister’s intention to reach wide public support for the rest of the overhaul during the summer recess.
Biden invited Netanyahu to “meet soon” in the United States. The prime minister accepted the invitation, and it was agreed that Israeli and US teams would coordinate the details of the meeting.
Herzog is slated to meet with Biden on Tuesday at the White House, the day before addressing a joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives. The Israeli president is also scheduled to meet with Vice President Kamala Harris and a host of other interagency officials.
This will be the second time in less than a year that Herzog has met with Biden, who has yet to invite Netanyahu for a visit to the White House since the start of his sixth term in office, which began more than half a year ago.
Commentators were quick to note that Biden didn’t invite Netanyahu specifically to the White House for a coveted meeting in the Oval Office of a State Dinner.
Biden was allegedly withholding the invitation over his opposition to the Israeli government’s planned judicial reforms and policies towards the Palestinians. In a recent interview, Biden said Netanyahu’s cabinet included “extremists.”
The judicial reforms have prompted months of weekly protests, riots and civil disruptions by Israeli left-wing anarchists led by opposition leader Yair Lapid and former prime minister Ehud Barak. One news report reveals leftist activists boasting about lobbying the White House not to shun Netanyahu.
Asked by a reporter where the meeting will be held, White House national security spokesman John Kirby said: “They have agreed that they will meet – probably before the end of this year (2023). And all the details of the wheres and whens are still being worked out.”
Kirby made it a point to add: “This doesn’t mean we have less concerns about the judicial reform or about the extremists in the Israeli government. We remain concerned.”

I wouldn’t meet with bibi. I hope Biden stands strong in his stance against Israel’s latest sway towards authoritarianism
And I wouldn’t meet with you…
Ahavas yisroel at its best, good for you
Please.
Biden hates Jews and hates the fact that there’s a Jewish government at all. I would never agree to such a meeting if I were Bibi with such vague terms!!!!!! There’s always 0% commitment from the terror Palestinian groups and us having to tolerate our own brethren lives being snatched over the fact that they are Jewish. THIS HAS , WAS AND WILL BE OUR LAND!!!!! Palestine is a Roman created name after the destruction of the second temple and taking that term and completely misusing it to abuse the inhabitants of the holy land is a crime but antisemitism… Read more »
100%! Bibi is a power hungry and amoral crook.
Please stop the infiltration. Just because you know what the common names are doesn’t make you Jewish and most definitely not part of the Jewish community. Even leftists don’t speak with such immorality as you choose to
Why do you come to see your news on Collive? Go to haaretz

They did this from the beginning and it has nothing to do with Judicial Reform. WH simply wants to make Bibi more malleable to it’s whims, so non inviting was a strategy to try to soften Bibi up to WH ideas and demands for concessions to the Arabs.
I hope and wish Bibi shrugs it off and doesn’t care. Because it is plainly obvious what the Biden WH is doing and why.
Biden is a figure head .
Save this country before it’s too late
Bibi agreed to stop all construction in judea and samaria until the end of the year. No new building permits and no new settlements just to meet biden!
No date was set so likely at UN
i’m troubled with the invitation netanyahu just received to meet with biden. nothing good will come of it; nothing good can come of it.i fervently hope netanyahu smiles through it all and just keeps saying “hmmmmm” till it’s over. PS to pres biden::with all undue respect, why don’t you pay more attention to the laws of the land in the U.S. before lecturing netanyahu about the “extremists” who want changes in the israeli judicial system? it’s not your place to shove your opinions – and thinly veiled condescension – at israel’s political leaders or at their knesset members. unlike the… Read more »
