Yakov Gajer is a sweet, cheerful, five-year-old from a proud Chabad family in Florida, known for their warmth and dedication to the Rebbe. He is the grandson of Rabbi Motti Anati obm, a beloved Shliach in Lauderhill, Florida, who founded The Moshiach Center and passed away just four years ago.
This year, Yakov was supposed to be in preschool, learning his aleph-beis and graduating with his class—but his life took a heartbreaking turn when he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).
Yakov now faces weekly chemo, hospital stays, painful side effects, and constant medical care. Simple childhood fevers turn into life-threatening infections that leave him hospitalized for weeks.
His parents, Hannah and Aryeh Gajer, juggle hospital life and caring for their three daughters. Hannah had to stop working to care for Yakov full-time, creating a major financial strain on the family.
Aryeh, Yakov’s father, follows in his father-in-law’s footsteps as a true community servant. He is a first responder with Hatzalah and Helping Hands (Chaverim)—always the first to show up when someone else is in need. Now, his own family needs *our* support.
Yakov’s treatment will last 2.5+ years, with frequent hospital visits, travel to specialists, therapies, tutoring, and more. Insurance helps, but many vital costs aren’t covered—like travel, lost income, extra childcare, and hospital lodging.
