The Gemara says that one should sell everything he has, if necessary, in order to marry the daughter of a Torah scholar.
In a different place, the gemara says that one should sell everything he has in order to buy shoes to wear.
What do shoes have in common with a shidduch?
1. No matter how expensive shoes are they are worth nothing unless you have two together. A right or left shoe alone is nothing.

2. Two right or two left shoes are also worthless, you need two different shoes to complement each other.

3. Sometimes new shoes are a little tight at first, but with time and patience you adjust and they become more comfortable.

4. If it’s hard to get the shoe on, sometimes you need to bend and help it along.
5. For the shoe to fit properly, make sure to keep the tongue tucked inside.

I think #1 may have meant – if the shoes are ungapatchked,
ie. Something with a high skinny heels, slippery soles and very uncomfortable versus, stylish but practical and functional.
How wrong you are the more expensive the more comfortable
Read the context. Once you are in marriage, you are nothing without your spouse.
Shiduchim are like shoes because no matter how beautiful the shoe is, it must fit…& besides both shoes need a “soul”.
If you are single you are, and this is a direct quote, ‘nothing`. Ouch
Yes they are
very Cute!
If the shoe doesn’t fit, it’s not a break up. It just wasn’t meant to be.
Number 2 is very relevant in this liberal day and age
For the shoes to stay on they need to be tied tightly
well said!
This has a lot for all of us to learn . Very cute but very real.
If it’s a fancy pair it will cost and not be that comfortable, if it’s simple it will be comfortable and in reasonable cost (if it’s possible to say that about women;))
