Chabad in Colorado Springs, directed by Shluchim Rabbi Moishe and Zeldy Liberow, held the Annual Evening of Inspiration and Music in honor of Gimmel Tammuz.
There was a buffet dinner enjoyed by all, together with a seven-piece band of local musicians, that played Nigunim of the Alter Rebbe and the Rebbe.
For the past 20 years consecutively they have been holding this event which attracts Jews from all over the region, from as far as Denver, 60 miles to the north, and Pueblo, 50 miles to the south and many mountain towns around this scenic mountainous region of the Rocky Mountains.
This year, in addition to Rabbi Yisroel Engel of Beis Menachem of Denver, who with much dedication, comes every single year to inspire the crowd and share a glimpse into the Rebbe’s teachings, another speaker, a member of the Denver community spoke.
Mr. Avrohom Kravitz, who owns a used furniture store in Denver, at first shared how when he was becoming observant back in the late ’80s, he moved out from where he was living into a Torah observant community in Denver. He had a very difficult time selling his home, so he wrote to the Rebbe, and the Rebbe advised him to have his Mezuzahs checked.
Right after that, he found a buyer for his home.
He then shared a fascinating first-hand account of how he had a customer enter his store, who displayed an anti-Semitic message on his tattoos.
The customer was in fact a neo-nazi.
He encountered him again in the store, and discussed with him at length about changing his beliefs and living a happier life.
He later moved to Cleveland, OH, where he converted to Yidishkeit.
He passed away a short while later as an Observant Yid.
Mr. Kravitz encouraged people to be proud of their Yiddishkeit and strengthen their connection to Torah and Mitzvahs.
