In honor of 20 years since Gimmel Tammuz, the Long Island Shluchim made their annual regional Kinus at the Ohel this past 7 Av.
The Kinus was organized by the Long Island Vaad HaShluchim, and covered many areas of shlichus. Speakers included Yisroel Schulman of NYLAG about the new NYS laws for religious corporations, Motti Seligson of Chabad.org, and Rabbis Eli Goodman and Yanki Saacks, who led a Shluchim Roundtable.
During the dinner, MCed by Leibel Baumgarten, new shluchim Yitzchak Hassine, Yakov Yoseph Raskin, and Dovid Weinbaum spoke.
This year 6 new shluchim have been appointed in Long Island, including Yaakov Yoseph Raskin – Huntington; Yitzchak Hassine – West Hills; Dovid Weinbaum – Dix Hills; Sholom Refson – Oceanside; Zevi Geisinsky – Great Neck and Aizak Baumgarten – East Hampton.
In addition, Rabbi Shmuel Butman represented the Vaad of Tzach, Head Shliach Rabbi Tuvia Teldon addressed a number of current issues, and Rabbi Aron Ginsberg of Boro Park gave the keynote and farbrenged afterwards.
Over 35 shluchim attended and left with much inspiration to take their shlichus on Long Island to the next level.
