A young boy who had just celebrated his upshernish ceremony in Israel last week, was tragically killed today in a fatal car accident in Beitar Ilit, Israel.
The accident occurred on HaChoze M’Lublin street, when a bus hit 3-year-old Baruch Eisenberg obm, who was visiting with his family from New York to mark his upshernish last week.
Rabbi Yossi Reinitz, a Lubavitch resident of the city and a veteran ZAKA volunteer, who was one of the first to arrive at the scene after the horrific accident, said, “I came to the scene of the accident, the sights were very difficult, a little boy was lying on the road, suffering from a very serious injury and without recognition, after he was run over by a bus,” he said.
“It was heartbreaking for us to take care of the difficult scene and see the relatives of the toddler who were there.”
A Police spokesman said, “A preliminary investigation by United Hatzalah’s examiners revealed that the toddler who was apparently holding his mother’s hand while they were on the pavement suddenly left her hands and broke into the road, and a bus at the time hit the toddler and killed him.
“The bus driver was detained at the site for interrogation and the traffic controllers are also working at these hours to determine the circumstances of the accident.”
Members of United Hatzalah’s Psychotrauma and Crisis Response Unit are currently treating family members and bystanders who witnessed the accident.
About three years ago, an accident occurred under similar circumstances, when a bus on the Sezer Street in Lublin ran over a child who was injured and died.
The funeral was held tonight at 22:15 from Shamgar to Har HaMenuchot.
