Multiple people were wounded Monday afternoon in a ramming terror attack that took place on Jerusalem’s Agrippas Street near the city’s iconic Machane Yehuda open air market.
The terrorist was neutralized on the spot, and large police forces were called to the scene, according to a spokesperson for Israel Police.
The attack took place just hours before the start of the country’s Memorial Day for fallen IDF soldiers and victims of terror, a mere 200 meters away from the site of the Yom HaZikaron (Memorial Day) ceremony that was scheduled to start in just a few hours.
Spokespersons for United Hatzalah and the Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency medical response service said medics were treating three victims: a 50 year old male in serious condition, unconscious with multi-trauma injuries, and two women in their thirties, both in fair condition with moderate injuries. A fourth person was being treated for mild injuries.
United Hatzalah volunteer EMTs Moshe Erblich and Eliyahu Avraham said: “We were close by when we heard cries for help after five pedestrians were struck by a car. We provided initial treatment to the injured at the scene, who were in serious, moderate, and light conditions. United Hatzalah transported a number of them to the hospital. Members of United Hatzalah’s Psychotrauma and Crisis Response Unit are still treating a number of people for emotional shock.”
