The Kolel L’horaah Ma’asis of Crown Heights, which focuses on training Chabad’s future Rabonim in practical Halacha, hosted Rabbi Eliyahu Bar Shalom for three days this past week, where he delivered close to 10 Shiurim over 15 hours to the Kolel Yungeleit.
Rabbi Bar Shalom is world-renowned expert on the laws of Chupah and Kidushin, the author of the acclaimed Halachic Encyclopedia “Mishpat Ha-Kesuba”, who oftentimes travels around the world to educate and train Rabbis and Shluchim in the laws of Chupah and Kidushin.
The three-day intensive seminar will be followed by weeks of in-depth learning of the Halachos from the Shulchan Aruch and Halachic authorities, and conclude with a written test, which will award the Kolel Yungeleit a certificate from Rabbi Bar Shalom, which in turn allows them to be recognized by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.
In a conversation with the Rosh Kolel, Rabbi Sholom Shuchat, Rabbi Bar Shalom expressed his astonishment at the wealth and breadth of knowledge that the Yungeleit, and expressed his wishes that more locations should learn from the Menahel of the Kolel, Rabbi Shloimy Greenwald how to create and maintain such a Kolel.
