Today, the 2nd of Adar, marks the 29th Yartzeit of Mrs. Pesha Leah Lapine Hy”d, a Jewish resident of Crown Heights and young mother who was murdered al kiddush Hashem.
L’chaim was said in her memory following Shachris davening at the main shul of 770 Eastern Parkway on Sunday morning.
Her vicious killing sent waves of shock through the entire Jewish community, and the Chabad community in Crown Heights in particular.
The Rebbe personally attended the Levaya with his deep pain visible on his face.
Following the end of Shiva, the Rebbe delivered an emotional Sicha, beseeching the Almighty to end this dark Galus and send Moshiach.

I once went on Mivtzoim with Pesha Leah HY”D. I can still see the Rebbe at the levaya, and the article is correct – the pain was visible on the Rebbe’s holy face. It was just a couple of weeks later that the Rebbe had his massive stroke at the Ohel. I am as certain now as I was then that this horrible murder affected the Rebbe’s health.
Those were terrible times, we must have Moshiach!
