BIG QUESTION
August 19, 2020 11:24 am

What are we – as a COMMUNITY – going to do if there is rioting, after the elections (for whatever reasons) – if it would come to Crown Heights, chas v’shalom/ Will there be a strategy to protect ourselves – as we are a “bookish” people. Seriously. Seriously. If there will be any lack of provisions out there, or disgruntled people who’ve been evicted through lack of rent payments, or upset if their favourite candidate didn’t win the elections – or they just don’t like us, chas chas v’shalom – at any point possibly, down the line… … because there… Read more »

All Jewish stores & businesses in Crown Heights/NYC & everywhere should, Check & make sure their Mezuzas are Good & Kosher, Put & Install Immediately Full Store Gates on All Glass Windows/Doors, The Mobs & Riots unfortunately are just starting again & it only looks like it will be getting much worse, Full Gates on all stores, If all the fancy Stores in Manhattan would of had store gates instead of their thick fancy shmancy strong glass that after enough hitting on it all broke then the Riot in Manhattan on June 1st 2020 would of been much much less… Read more »

BH, Joining Shmira/Shomrim, At a time where the police are almost nowhere to be found, nothing stands between us and the criminals on the streets of Kan Tziva Hashem Es Habrocha. Shmira and Shomrim, both great organizations, are out all day and all night doing their best for us all, they are also probably currently stretched thin because they are getting double or triple the amount of incidents more than usual that they need to respond to over the past month. These brave individuals are volunteering their time for you, for us, for our community, but they both need more… Read more »

this is so sad

that this is ligit what NYC and a lot of America still looks like right now!

in 1991, It was a POGROM, not a riot
August 19, 2020 11:46 am

A riot refers to a violent disturbance of the peace by a crowd
Riotors indiscriminately attack and destroy bystanders and property.

A POGROM is a riot that specifically targets Jews and Jewish Property.

1991 disturbance was a POGROM!!

They said never forget

And then we had some idiots that thought it was a good idea to go march in protests with the blacks, shouting “no justice no peace”, just like al sharpton. Go be woke somewhere else

Totally agree

Amazing how insensitive people can be, and such short memories too.

And it’s not just Jews, anyone thinking it’s a good idea to march through Jewish Crown Heights areas when the trauma is still so fresh should be ashamed of themselves.

After 29 years we still don’t have a peace in CH

It’s still not safe to go on our streets not day and not night time. Specially now when crime and antisemitism is very high.

Idea for the current Matzav in NYC now
August 19, 2020 2:15 pm

Crime is rising in every category daily, The streets are not safe, Each day has more and more shootings in NYC & in Brooklyn,  There are 2 types of Neighborhoods throughout NYC. One type (which is the majority) has the majority of their neighborhood’s residents want to Defund & even Abolish the NYPD, They have No respect for law & order, They want lawlessness & crime, They have No respect for the brave NYPD that are risking their own lives to try to keep them safe & they have No respect for Law Abiding Citizens. The other type of neighborhood’s… Read more »

This will never work, simply because it makes too much sense

Sadly correct, anything that makes common sense the city usually does the opposite, But in this specific situation its the top brass of the NYPD that are calling the shots where & how many Officers are stationed per Precinct, And i think the entire NYPD would love and fully embrace this wonderful idea, So if everyone can please do their part by sending this collive article link and as well a screeshot of the above comment do any and all Frum Activists in Crown Heights that they know and are friends with (No matter how big or small activist) then… Read more »

Mezuzahs
August 19, 2020 2:38 pm

Mezuzahs

It is important for everyone to have their Mezuzahs and Tefillin regularly checked for security and safety, especially now as we are approaching the month of Elul shortly. As well to make sure that all door posts in your home have Mezuzahs.

Homes / Window Bars
August 19, 2020 2:41 pm

Homes / Window Bars: We can see from the past month that windows break, many homeowners in our community don’t have bars on their windows, leaving their windows very vulnerable to get broken which can give criminals an entrance to a home. Even with the windows being locked, now with gangs roaming the streets and doing what they want, all it takes is just a few clapping on windows or something strong thrown at a window to get full access to someone’s home. We must take this into account very seriously, I think it is about time that all home… Read more »

Store Owners / Store Gates
August 19, 2020 2:42 pm

Unfortunately the situation now in NY is very dangerous and violent, Store Owners / Store Gates: We saw what just one night of rioting/looting in Manhattan looks like, as well Manhattan “supposedly” is the place with the most Police stationed, Every high-end store with their luxury high-end strong glass windows had their windows broken at best and fully looted and ransacked at worst. Store owners in Crown Heights that do not have gates, and only have glass windows/doors, should very seriously consider getting full gates on their stores for safety as soon as possible (Although this may be expensive for… Read more »

Video Cameras
August 19, 2020 3:11 pm

Video Cameras: Although video cameras may not stop most criminals from committing crimes, after the crime has happened video cameras play a crucial role by viewing what actually took place, and in either identifying the criminals and/or having proof of the crime so the criminal can be fully prosecuted if caught. In our community, almost every criminal that was arrested at a later time after they ran away from the scene of the crime was because they were able to be identified by video cameras. Because of video cameras/footage, every year lots and lots of criminals attacking our community are… Read more »

Videos / YouTube documentation NOT WORKING
August 20, 2020 6:58 am

I don’t know whether YouTube has anything to do with it, but neither of the two videos in this excellent article about the 1991 Crown Heights pogrom are working — I have tried to run both several times and both were jammed, with YouTube saying “try back again later.” It needs to be checked; I have never seen that before. Excellent article; sad that we have ever had to document such a nightmare; worse that it is being repeated in New York, and nationwide across America. We seem certainly to have crossed the threshold into the era of the Geula,… Read more »
