250 relatives of hostages kidnapped by Hamas in Gaza are traveling to New York from Israel on Monday to pray at the Rebbe's Ohel in a delegation led by Chabad – Tzach of Israel.
The group will pray at the Rebbe’s Ohel in Queens, NY and will also meet with American Congress members in Washington, DC on Tuesday, with the hope of creating international pressure for the release of the 240 hostages which are still being kept in captivity following the Hamas attacks on October 7.
The delegation, organized by Tzach of Israel, is being led by Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Aharonov, and includes 250 representatives of the families of the kidnapped. The group is accompanied by a group of Shluchim and Chabad Rabbis, who will accompany them to visit and pray at the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s Ohel in Queens.
“We cannot bring the kidnapped hostages home to their families, but we can do everything in our power to utilize the spiritual tools available to every Jew: prayer, faith, and confidence,” said Rabbi Aharonov.
“A few weeks ago, Chabad Shluchim met with the families of the kidnapped, and one of the mothers said, ‘When there is a problem in the world, we know who to turn to.’ We simply responded to the call and raised our hands in our own ways.”
Ricky, sister-in-law of hostage Uriel Baruch, 35 years old from Jerusalem, told YNet about the trip, “We embark on this journey to reach as many holy individuals and places where we can pray and cry out for all the kidnapped. We believe that with the help of our soldiers, we will succeed in overcoming the unbelievable reality we are experiencing now. Since we learned that he is kidnapped, we directed all our efforts in searching for him, mass prayers, gatherings, special prayers, visits to holy graves, so that his name – Uriel Baruch ben Naomi – and the names of all the kidnapped will be in a place of sanctity. May it make a great noise in the Heavens.”
This trip is organized and funded by Chabad of Israel/Israel National Emergency-Fund.
