Announcement by Rabbi Eli Cohen, Executive Director of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council (CHJCC):
While you are sitting at home, next time you take a break from Pesach cleaning, please take 10 to 15 minutes to do something that helps the community.
In the past week, you have received several mailings from the government asking you to complete the census.
All the frum communities were very badly undercounted 10 years ago and were hurt as a result.
The money allocated through the census goes to schools, and to help poor people in the community, as well as roads, parks, and other facilities.
It also determines our voting strength as the numbers are used to create election districts.
It is very easy to do. Go online to my2020census.gov
Start by entering the code you received in the mail – or if you don’t have the code, enter your address.
Then answer a few simple questions about each person living in your home.
If you have boarders or tenants in a separate apartment in a one or two family house, please add them as unrelated members of your household.
Count them if they usually live in your home, even if they left temporarily.
If you don’t know their date of birth, you can leave it blank and just write their approximate age.
Remember: None of the information you give to the census will be given to any other government agency – not the IRS, not New York City and not the State.
Household information is protected by law. Only block-by-block numbers are reported.
Thank you and a Kosher and happy Pesach.

And all USA communities….
I filled it out online. It took about 10 minutes.
One of the questions they ask is what race you are white, black, Asian etc. When you answer white as I did, they then ask about nationality Irish, Italian, etc. I answered “Jewish.” This is important to answer “Jewish” so that the Govt knows we are around in large numbers.
I don’t think you should write white and then Jewish.
There is an option ‘Other’: fill that in.
Otherwise, we aren’t considered a minority.
I did the same.
Everyone should fill this out Today, The more people per Block that fill it out, The more Funding Crown Heights & our Community can iyh get.
Census is IMORTANT! When will there be a “census” of Crown Heights for elections? THAT… IS… LONG… OVERDUE! Before asking the shchuna to do an external census, we need a census of who represents the shchuna! Make Crown Heights Great Again! Let us have ELECTIONS!
We must answer those ?
no income questions
When is the dead line to do this by?
The deadline was April 1. You will now receive a mail in form with a new due date
