Two Israeli soldiers were tragically killed and another two were seriously injured in fierce clashes with Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, the IDF said.
The casualties were identified as 20-year-old Staff Sergeant Roei Wolf of Ramat Gan, and 20-year-old Staff Sergeant Lavi Lipshitz of Modi’in-Maccabim-Reot, both of the Givati brigade.
Prior to announcing the deaths of the two soldiers, the IDF said its troops had been engaged in heavy fighting with Hamas deep in the Gaza strip, in which dozens of terrorists were eliminated.
“The IDF forces attacked an outpost of Hamas terrorists in the north of the Gaza Strip. The forces eliminated dozens of terrorists, anti-tank launching cells and positions, observation posts and seized many weapons, including explosives and weapons.”
The IDF published a video of the battles, which were carried out by forces on foot, in tanks, and in fighter jets from the air:
Earlier this morning, the IDF published a recording of the commander of the Southern Command, Maj. Gen. Yaron Finkelman, telling troops that we “are launching an attack on Hamas and terror organizations in the Gaza Strip. Our goal is one, victory.”
