The Menachem Education Foundation, an organization dedicated to transforming the educational capacity of Jewish schools, is honoring select Chabad teachers across the USA.
The 9 educators chosen have achieved outstanding results in implementing the cutting-edge Data Driven Instruction (DDI) program in their classrooms.
Developed by leading educators in the field, DDI is a unique program that the Foundation debuted in September 2010 to focus on gauging what students were actually learning in the classroom.
The programs’ standards, curriculum mapping, planned assessments, analyses and action plans ensure that no child gets lost in the educational system. The program allows teachers to effectively pinpoint, assess and remedy weaknesses in students learning and reinforce successes.
When the program piloted last year in schools across the country, the Foundation’s executive board teamed up with Motti Wiener of Daily Steals to create a prestigious Teacher Award to review teacher’s work and recognize those who excelled in actualizing the program and achieving unprecedented success.
This year the a grant of $12,000 was generously sponsored by Jerry and Sharon Eisenberg in memory of Yaakov Velvel (Billy) Eisenberg OBM.
The Eisenberg Teacher Award will be presented to:
Mrs. Toba Spalter and Mrs. Chaya Scherra Spalter of Cheder Lubavitch of Morristown.
Mrs. Nechama Tauber of Lubavitch Educational Center in Miami
Rabbi Elozor Fisch and Rabbi Leibel Lipsker of Cheder Menachem L.A.
Rabbi Mendy Hershkop, Rabbi Shuie Samuels, Rabbi Shmuel Geisinsky and Rabbi Meir Perelstein of Darchei Menachem
It is especially meaningful to me to sponsor this award in honor of my brother who was an acclaimed educator for over 33 years,” Eisenberg explained. “My brother was devoted to seeing every child in his classroom succeed. With this Teacher Award, I hope to perpetuate his legacy.”
Rabbi Zalman Shneur, executive director of MEF, said he believes the award “gives credence to the hours of devotion and hard work that teachers invest in the program.”
“By acknowledging the effort that these hard-working teachers put in we are encouraging educators to expect and produce excellence. When our teachers know our communities stand behind them and salute their dedication then we can truly begin to see a difference,” he said.
