The study of the Tanya, the foundational book of Chabad Chassidus authored by the Alter Rebbe, Rabbi Scheur Zalman of Liadi, was concluded this week by Jews around the world.
One of them was Chaya Litzman.
The 11-year-old lives in Seoul where her parents Rabbi Osher and Mussy Litzman serve as Chabad Shluchim and the directors of the Chabad Jewish Community of Korea.
The young Litzman, who isn’t Bas Mitzvah yet, studied all 53 chapters of the Tanya’s Likkutei Amarim section and knew them by heart.
Her parents said she didn’t have even one mistake and estimated that she most probably broke a record of being tested on all of the 53 chapters.
She started memorizing Tanya and Mishnayos by heart at age 4, about 7 years ago, when she was able to read Hebrew.
It took her 20 minutes to recite the longest chapter in Tanya, Perek 37, which has some 1,500 words.
