A massive load of more than 1,000 polished Yemenite Shofars or antelope horns were stolen from a Brooklyn home, police said Friday, the NY Post reported.
A 70-year-old Crown Heights man was inside his garage at Montgomery Street and Albany Avenue on Thursday at around 3:45 p.m. when he discovered that a thief had forcibly busted through his front garage door.
The thief swiped about 32 boxes containing 1,250 pieces of the ancient musical horns made from the Kudu antelope in Africa.
The NYPD has put out a photo of a polished Yemenite Shofar similar to the ones stolen from the victim – and is asking anyone with information about the theft to call the department’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-8477.
are they maybe getting ready for Rosh Hashanah, now, so early ???
How did the thief know they were in the garage to break in to steal them
Who’s going to blow the horn on this thief?
Wow 1250 shofers. That’s a lot. Perhaps a distributor more then a store. At $190.00 each. That’s a total of aprox $240,000.00. A 1/4 Million Dollars. And you left them in your garage??? Hhmm. That’s crazy !!!
Must be insiders, either workers of owner or workers around the area. I hope cameras will help find…
