Close to 1000 people attended the Yud Tes Kislev Inspire event held Tuesday evening at the Prince and Princess banqueting hall in London. It was a true Hakhel of all Anash communities, Chabad Houses and Student Centres.
Tehillim for the safety and security of all Yidden especially in Eretz Yisroel was recited by Rabbi Yitzchok Sufrin.
The Guest Lay Leader Mr. Paul Groman Marks, an active member of Chabad of Ilford and Buckhurst Hill addressed the audience telling them of his journey to Chabad and how as he said he can’t live without it. He described how he was a three time a year Jew when on one Shabbos morning whilst he was washing his car he was approached by a Shaliach who asked him to come to the Minyan because he needed a strong man to lift the Sefer Torah. He agreed and never looked back. He started a shiur chassidus on Friday night and for many years has maintained that shiur opening his eyes and heart to the depth of Chassidus.
Chazan Eli Sufrin led the singing of Pada Vesholom after which there was Kinus-style lively dancing.
The Keynote was delivered by Rabbi Ari Shishler Director of Chabad Strathavon in Johannesburg South Africa. He delivered a brilliant speech explaining the vital need to learn Chassidus today each on their own level. He explained the paradox of Chabad how on one hand we can live in the Chutzah – in the outside world, and only because simultaneously we are steeped in the deepest teachings of Chassidus.
Rabbi Nissan Dovid Dubov of Chabad Wimbledon who organized the event offered practical suggestions as to how each of the assembled could take on practical resolutions to study Chassidus daily, through Chayenu and Chabad.org.
“Feedback from the evening was tremendous,” said Rabbi Dubov. “Many people responded immediately that they are starting new Shiurim in Chassidus each on their level. London experienced a Hakhel in the year Uforatzto in a big way!”
