Close to 100 cars participated in a Menorah car parade in the center of Berlin.
The parade began at the Berlin Olympic stadium to commemorate 50 years since the terrorist attack on the Israeli athletes at the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972.
Over 100 cars joined the beautiful parade. It began with the lighting of a public Chanukah Menorah at the Olympic stadium, following which everyone got into their vehicles. The parade continued with a police escort leading the parade, with Jewish music being heard in the streets, the police closed the streets so all the cars in the parade could drive together.
As one young mother, Tanya shared, “it was truly a source of Jewish pride and identity for my children.”
These are the very same streets where Jews were taken to the concentration camps, and today thousands of people stood proud to witness their Jewish identity.
When the parade arrived at the Brandenburg gate, a lighting ceremony took place with the mayor of Berlin and senator for energy Bettina Jarasch. Jarasch spoke about the joy of seeing proud happy people, especially in this time of year when family comes together.
The parade was organized by Rabbi Dovid Tiechtel and Ruvi Frydling.
