Ahead of their reopening, the Chabad Yeshiva Gedola in the central Israeli city of Cholon has secured a house that will serve as a dormitory for non-Israeli students.
The Yeshiva primarily serves English-speaking bochurim from the United States, Canada and England with most classes delivered in English and Yiddish by a capable staff led by the Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Shlomo Chaim Feldman.
Their dormitory was burned in a fire last year, leading Rabbi Feldman and Cholon’s Chief Rabbi Yochanan Gourarie to search for other options maintain the Yeshiva as it renews activity this coming school year.
An apartment was recently purchased with the support of the Meromim Foundation and philanthropist Sholom Ber Drizin of Crown Heights. Efforts are being made to purchase a second apartment.
“The advantage of purchasing over renting is that we can better customize its use for the bochurim – Gashmius and Ruchanius,” staff at the Yeshiva said.
Keeping the enrollment relatively small, the Yeshiva is able to offer a personalized care and guidance to bochurim who are away from home, while adhering to the high standards of learning and order.
The Yeshiva is still accepting applications for bochurim enrolling in Shiur Aleph and Shiur Beis for the year 5777, beginning in Elul 5767. To request an application, email [email protected] or call +972-546537704.
