Dear Anash,
Last night, Jewish Community Watch organization hosted an evening to bring education and awareness to child abuse (CSA) in the Montreal community.
As I’ve heard often happens before JCW comes to a new city, many are unsure how to react.
For the few weeks leading up to the event, our community was abuzz.
The “for” and “against” JCW groups drew their lines and the rhetoric was flying.
I knew I would attend to show support for the many victims of abuse. Yet, there was a part of me that understood the “against” group.
“Who are they anyhow?” They seemed to ask. “What jurisdiction do they have here? WE CAN DEAL WITH OUR OWN PROBLEMS AND WE DONT NEED THEM!”
Not anymore.
I sat through a full JCW event. I listened to the stories the speakers shared and I watched as a woman from our community looked at the crowd directly and proudly declared “I will do anything for JCW”.
It was at that moment that I realized what JCW means to her and the many innocent and hurt children who had nowhere else to turn to before JCW was established.
I give a Bracha to JCW to be able to continue these events and bring their message to each and every frum community. The evening was enlightening, riveting, and painful, but long overdue and absolutely necessary.
Shmuel Gniwisch
Montreal
thank you JCW for coming to Montreal. this was long overdue and the abuse is real.
Report it to the police, report tt to JCW, but if u do nothing then you are a. Accomplice
I live In montreal, and I don’t know who your talking about!
and that’s a problem,
It is dangerous for our chilldrrns safety , when we don’t know who’s the threat.
I hope JCW can help us identify, who are the creeps.
from montreal told me EVERY single girl in her (large) family was molested by ‘upstanding’ members of anash there.
are these people still roaming the streets there? these are people with long beards and kapotes.
montreal – clean up!!
kudos to all those who attended or organized this event – a first necessary step there
Let’s say, you found out, that on your street, within the last 24 hours,
A pure 8 year old boy or girl was abused,
Would that “impress you” ?
Shmuly more power to to you for supporting JCW!
Peretz
In the past JCW would place people on their wall of shame without a formal process. Presumably most (perhaps all) deserved to be there, but there was no way to know for sure. It appears that JCW has now grown into a mature organization and has a reputable staff etc. But the question is valid for those who haven’t been following it closely.
Perhaps someone should answer the question rather than simply dismissing it outright.
Over 300 people attended this event.
The subject was presented in a most bekovodik, sensitive and tasteful manner – a real Kiddush Hashem, and Kiddush Lubavitch.
It is about time it was addressed in Montreal.
The statistics are no less shocking in Montreal.
May Moschiach come soon so that there will no longer be a need for JCW, but until then, may they continue their work b’hatzlacha.
To #9.
Inform yourself of the facts, You sound like a Neanderthal in regard to this most tragic and serious issue.
The evening was AMAZING, and, tragically, long overdue in Montreal.
Kol Hakavod to the organizers and participants: Meir Seewald, David Schottenstein, Eli Nash, Rabbi Whitman, Ruth, and the others. The Rebbe is surely proud of you.
Would that COL post, as a link, if given permission, at least half of the very long and informative evening, like they did with Sima Yarmush’s presentation.
As a victim, there is nothing that is as hurtful as reading your comment. Have you researched jcw? If not, why would you suggest something negative? Based on what do you assume that their practices cause concern?
Go onto the JCW web site and click on Board of Ad visors.
That 1 out of 3 children are abused??? Thats alarming & must be taken very seriosly……… thats why parents must have an open relationship with their children!!!
Thank u Meir, Eli et al
It’s refreshing to see someone have an open mind and actually be persuaded. It’s an important issue with a deep source and it’s finally getting the attention it deserves.
Unfortunately JCWs cause is absolutely real. My concern is how they go about their business. Do they have reputable checks and balances? Who has final say on who they choose to “out”? Etc. Please report if that was addressed at the event.
Shmueli I have the utmost respect for you and I’d value your objective response.
Continued hatzlacha in everything you do.
I love and admire the work that JCW are doing. My hope is that there should be no reason for the organization since none of our children will ever be molested or abused in the future.
Dear shmuel Gniwicsh.
I did. It know you are so easy to impress.
I’m a bit surprised
Meyer for community council! I’m serious! Maybe we would actually have some change if Meyer ran our community. I love the way he stands for truth and entegrity! He goes after what’s right and fights til the end! Keep it up- you are getting somewhere!!!
No one is disputing their usefulness, but why is their board a secret,Why not let it be known which Rabbonim and professionals decide who will or wont be on the WOS.
A Jew with true integrity. Kain Yirbu.
Can the videos of the speeches please be posted?
What a beautiful event. Thank Shmuel for being there for our community.
beautiful crowd! Amazing meir! U make us proud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
