Magician and illusionist David Blaine surprised a number of Crown Heights residents Wednesday, showing up in the neighborhood without warning.
The famed magician popped in at Sartoria Sacho – Primo Hatters on Wednesday afternoon, where he donned a traditional Chabad kapota and fedora.
He then visited the home of Shloime Rotter, the store’s owner, where he performed a series of card tricks and other magic tricks.
Later in the evening, Blaine visited the home of CHJCC President Zaki Tamir, where he performed more tricks for delighted residents.
When asked to put on Tefillin, Blaine replied he “puts on tefillin quite often, with his Rabbi, Rabbi Hillel Heller of Crown Heights.”

Don’t worry i meet him a few times. He’s the last person to ridicule Frumkeit. He’s really a good person
Brighten up! dont assume the worst… dont be so prejudice! Just btw huge fan of Dovid White! 😉
His Jewishness has long been known! A few years ago when he hung in a box over the Thames here in London, a few Lubavichers walked down to the site and blew Shofar for him!
saw him once in london trying to get out of a cage suspended in the air whilst he is chained up!……he did get out.
In case anyone is interested, he held his breath for 17 min and 4 sec under water
With that hat and kapote he looks more chassidish than half the neighborhood
Ch gets all the action
I just hope he doesn’t use the hat and kapota to ridicule frumkiet in any which way…
This is awesome!
