The talmidim of Yeshivas Lubavitch Toronto spent the auspicious days of Yud Tes and chof Kislev, Rosh Hashono l’Chassidus, in an uplifting atmosphere, participating in numerous farbrengens – from Wednesday night leil Yud Tes Kislev, and right through Motzei Shabbos Parsha Vayeishev, 21 Kislev, in accordance with the directives of the Rebbe.
The highlight was the main central farbrengen, that took place on Thursday night, between Yud Tes and chof Kislev. Many anash, elder chassidim, Rabbonim and guests joined in for many hours, and were drawn in to the contagious enthusiasm and excitement of the bochurim.
The evening began with a dvar malchus, by shliach Eizik Mintz, followed by the reading of a telegram from the Rebbe by mashpia Rabbi Mann. Rabbi Akiva Wagner, the Rosh Yeshiva, shared some inspiring messages about the day, and hatomim Mendel Lavner retold the story of the liberation of the Alter Rebbe in an articulate and masterful way. The guest speaker, Rabbi Chaim Leib Hildesheim, shliach of the Rebbe to Toronto, spoke about the lessons of the day. There were numerous eruptions of spontaneous dancing with overwhelming chayus. The event was very tastefully emceed by shliach Levi Gerlitzky, and, of course, the credit for organizing all the details of the evening goes to the talmidim hashluchim.
The “formal” portion of the evening was followed, after a video and bentching, with a lively farbrengen by the guest speaker, Rabbi Hildesheim, who shared many personal recollections of growing up with the Rebbe, and then by Rabbi Wagner until the wee hours of the morning.
“All in all, it was an evening that made a lasting impact on all participants, that will surely be manifested by great improvement in every area of their conduct,” said Rabbi Wagner.
