Thousands of Chabad Yeshiva students are spending the beginning of the new year and the month of Tishrei in New York, as customary.
“Tishrei by the Rebbe” has the bochurim davening, learning and strengthening their spiritual state in a month filled with holidays and round the clock inspiration.
Keeping them in check is the Vaad Talmidei Hatmimim organization, working hand-in-hand with the staff of the Yeshivas, with a detailed schedule that has the bochurim fully utilize their stay.
Learning sessions are held at Lubavitch Headquarters – 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights and at Ohel Chabad Lubavitch in Queens, near the Rebbe’s resting place.
One such shiur took place this week with Rabbi Yisroel Shimon Kalmenson of Lahak publishers discussing a general letter the Rebbe wrote in honor of Rosh Hashana 5731.
The lecture was followed by questions and answers and the screening of archive footage of the month of Tishrei being spent with the Rebbe over the years.
The Vaad Hatmimim, with its Hachnosas Orchim command center located on Union Street behind 770, also offers full sleeping accommodations and meals for guests.
The efforts are supported by local businessmen R’ Avremel Lokshin, R’ Nachman Lokshin, and R’ Schneur Minsky, along with various sponsors.
