Fair Honors Chassidic Figures

Cheder Chabad of Philadelphia recently showcased a fair entitled “The Chosid I admire,” a display made up of art, writing, research, stories, designed with electric and modern technology.

The work was researched, learned, interviewed, written and designed by the students themselves who have worked individually or in groups to choose a person no longer living that they can learn from.

It was the culmination of a year-long theme of “Making Every Day a Meaningful Day.” The children showed great enthusiasm, creativity and Ahavas Yisroel when working on this project and gained much insight into chassidim and their hiskashrus.

The fair was held on 5 Tammuz, which happens to be the yartzeit of the legendary chossid R’ Bentzion Shemtov OBM, father of Head Shliach of Philadelphia, Rabbi Abraham Shemtov.

Some of the men on show were (in random order): Reb Shmuel Munkes, Reb Hillel Paritch, Der Shpole Zaide, Reb Zushe of Anipoli, Rabbi Mendel Futerfas, Reb Asher Sossonkin, Reb Sholom Posner, Reb Yisroel Jacobson, Reb Moshe Binyomin Kaplan, Reb Yehuda Chitrik, Reb Laibel Kaplan, Reb Pinchos Reitzis, Reb Peretz Chein, Dr. Ezra Sherakavitzky, Reb Zalman Jaffee, Reb Avrohom Hecht, Reb Elchonon Dov Marozov and more.

Some of the women displayed about were Rebbetzin Chana (mother of the Rebbe), Rebbetzin Fraida and Rebbetzin Devorah Leah (daughters of the Alter Rebbe), Rebbetzin Menucha Rochel (daughter of the Mittele Rebbe), Mrs. Hinda Deitsch, Bubbe Mariashe, Mumme Sara, Cherna Ushpol and others.

A special thanks was given to the dedicated staff at the cheder for the ideas they shared, encouragement and support of the children.
