why would someone tell anyone where he was, if he happens to go to jail it is not going to be pleasant for him, I feel so bad for him

Hachem must defend and protect him directly
December 11, 2012 7:19 pm

I feel so bad for him!

I know some member of his family and they are all very special and helping people all the time caring like i have rarely seen. They have kove fora fellow Jew !!

The communauty must help now write letters for him to government and other Rabbanim to get involved!! This is no small thing as America has become a global prison for all…

May Chanukah light shine on him.

December 9, 2012 10:04 am

Prison situation aside, is he guilty of the crime he is being accused of or not?

Yitzchok Yisroel ben Rochel
December 9, 2012 4:58 am

I’m praying for him everyday – he was my student and I know his integrity

Say Tehillim now.
December 8, 2012 5:52 pm

In my opinion I think that he should take responsibility for his actions, but 12 years for defending these pregnant women?! Can’t anyone see the unjustice in that, I think I’m going to say some Tehillim, for this Shochat man and for the Yidden all over to be more united and supportive. How are we going to greet Moshiach when he gets here, not like this.. surely?! Oi.. what the world has come too.

it's not shuchat or rubashkin
December 8, 2012 5:37 pm

Don’t you get it? It has nothing to do with Rubashkin or Shuchat or the crime which they have or not done. It has to do with the fact that they are Jewish, and being Jewish, and the court standard of this country is that if you are Jewish you are automatically guilty even if proven innocent! Bunch of antisemites, yemach shemom!

Yitzie Shuchat was a trained patroled volunter. WHEN HE CAME ON THE SCENE. He RESTRAINED one of two black attackers. The second attacker was never “touched” And he was a felon for molesting AND raping young female victims. After this past time of attacking and throwing rocks at JEWISH homes. This second person was convicted for RAPING AGAIN ! Yitzie Shuchat WENT BEFORE ISRAEL’S SUPREME COURT. Their were Two Jewish judges and One Arab judge [ who headed the procedure ] . The two Jewish Judges ruled their was NO HATE CRIME BUT THE THIRD [ ARAB ] Judge ruled… Read more »

The Supreme court said that its not a hate crime,to america so they said we dont want to deal with this and go to america to finish the problem

Chanukah is coming
December 7, 2012 2:04 am

message of Chanukah: darkness is apathy, doing nothing when you see darkness, lets not underestimate what everyone’s “light” can do to help this young man who patroled our streets

wrong defense
December 7, 2012 2:03 am

The problem with the defense is that you are going with the anti-semetic angle. This is golus- we are hated no matter what we do. The guy shochat supposedly hit came off in the media as a clean cut college kid. Shochat came off as a giant. His height and strength which was often used to push heavy wheelchairs at hasc are working against him. You need to investigate and publish the type of low life this cop’s son is. His friend who was with him that day was/is worse. Let people change their opinion of the so-called clean cut… Read more »

The guy he hit was a cop’s son- that is the reason for this.

1991 riots
December 6, 2012 11:29 pm

During the 1991 riots, there were hundereds of incidents of Black people assulting Jews (and thousands on Jewish property).

How many were arrested?

Did anyone sit in prison?

a very sad day
December 6, 2012 11:26 pm

As If we don’t have enough tzoros, we have to bring more upon ourselves!?
Some in this community have to do some real soul searching, and the rest of us, do all that we can to help a fellow Jew being prosecuted only cus hes jewish.

One way game
December 6, 2012 11:22 pm

Only a Black could attack a Jew.
999 out of a 1000 Blacks who attacked a Jew in Crown Heights got away with nothing.

This is either because no one bothered enough to catch them, or becuase the police/jails are busy with homocides and have no time to deal with a black man “punching/mugging” a (rich) Jew.

When a Jew touches a black… 12 years in prison.

Perhaps also the media that the politicians read are very pro black and against orthodox/religious Jews. It would also be boring to read a story every day about a black attacking a Jew.

To all the commenters here:
December 6, 2012 10:34 pm

While it is very, very sad that this is happening to a father and husband, you should know that his patrol has attempted the same thing against the patrol that had him extradited. except that in that other case, it wasn’t one father they wanted to put behind bars, it was 6.

As a father myself, i feel terrible for him, his wife and his poor children.

Nobody wins when there is Machloikes.

Yitzy is a kind hearted guy, that loves volunteering in hospitals and helping people in need.

That rotten kid he supposedly hit, was throwing rocks at a women, and since this incident has bin arrested more then once, DA Charles Hynes is a rotten piece of Shmutz that should be ashamed of himself.

This proves that Hynes is a disgrace, that he will turn the world over for a Shmira volunteer to be extradited!!!!!!

Arab Judge!
December 6, 2012 6:41 pm

The judge in todays ruling is an arab, and you expected mercy!

demontrate/stop this
December 6, 2012 6:32 pm

why can’t the community come together and help his lawyer in israel by protesting this injustice and sending letters with signatures that this extradition should not happen.
and over here letters should be written to hynes abt the unfair “justice” in this community!! we should be defending and protecting Shuchat from this unfairness.
show some ahava now.

December 6, 2012 6:27 pm

anyone that can say ridicules things like some are saying here must have not lived in crown heights or is simply a moron. I recall the amount of beatings and muggins that were happening every single day in CH, Yitzie was the one brave enough to protect us. If you can say anything against him it is clear that you have ulterior motives like the “yidden” who hyped and magnified this case and caused all this just for personal satisfaction. I think someone in this community needs to stand up and do something. No one ever advertised how many people… Read more »

I say Tehillim for him every day
December 6, 2012 5:43 pm

I was just thinking this morning that we never heard anything & maybe it all blew over. Obviously not. I’m shocked. He’s another Hynes scapegoat and witchhunt. Everyone must say tehillim for Yitzchok Yisroel ben Rochel for a yeshua.

December 6, 2012 5:26 pm

Very very sad.

First, that a fellow Jew and community member is facing such a predicament. Second, and more importantly, people from this community are cheering it on, LO SAAMOD AT DAM REI’ECHA and definitely don’t instigate it! Have we lost all our senses? Is this how Jewish people (and supposedly chassidim) behave?

Back in the Day
December 6, 2012 5:09 pm

There was a time when no one ever, EVER was moiser on another yid in CH, no matter what happened. Full stop. Where’s the achdus? Did he beat up another Jew? The teenager wasn’t even seriously injured. This is an embarrasment to us, the other patrol, and the Israeli Court system.

he deserves 12 yrs. behind bars??????? Hashem should be more merciful when he judges you. i don’t know the true story but 12 years???

Please correct slanted reporting
December 6, 2012 4:30 pm

“for no apparent reason”???
“Wounds to the back of the head and hand”???
Fact is that the so-called victim had no wounds or obvious injuries. Fact is that Shuchat rightly or wrongly believed that he was attacking members of the community. He did not beat him “for no reason.”
Ad mosai. How much more tzoros do we need to endure.

Charles Hynes has failed miserably on the abuse issue, sadly certain leaders in the Frum community are as guilty as him. With that said lately he’s trying to carve out a legacy for himself, because he’s fearful of actually having to fight for whats usually an easy reelection. So he’s been appealing to all communities with high profile prosecutions. He’s played Satmar VS each other, and he’s done that with Chabad, by over blowing the 749 incident, and now with the Shochat case he’s trying to bring us back to 1991 in order to look like a super hero. There’s… Read more »

NO LESS DIFFERENT THAN RUBASHKIN, POLLARD
December 6, 2012 3:39 pm

THE SAME OLD STUPID ONE SIDED SCAPEGOATING. MR HYNES who we thought was warming up to our community has just destroyed his trust in us. Let Hynes join hands with Sharpton, Jackson, the other clans in the alleyways of black America!! It is freekin’ not fair when a black man in broad daylight attacks women, and the list goes on and on… not a freekin’ word is said. For shame Hynes

For no reason?!?!?!?
December 6, 2012 2:59 pm

Oh so that what he was throwing rocks (or at the very least fit the description of someone throwing rocks) is considered “for no reason?”

#1 is correct
December 6, 2012 2:58 pm

It is, in fact, very ominous that this is happening to someone responding to an assault against a Jewish child, while the police in Crown Heights who were caught ON CAMERA beating a Jewish boy are walking around free and still employed to protect public safety.

A case of very obvious Anti Semitism
December 6, 2012 2:55 pm

This extraordinary action is a by product of the general rule applied to the Jews of Crown Heights that self defence by Jews is prohibited, other than ‘holding on to’ a criminal, if that is possible, while the police take their time coming. It seems that only the perpetrators are allowed to commit assault, robbery and damage without consequences. This man responded to the assault of a child by the alleged ‘victim’- a grown man who assaulted a little girl. Not only are the criminals in Crown Heights who assault Jews on a regular basis not ‘extradited’ from other countries,… Read more »

what
December 6, 2012 2:36 pm

what is sad about all this is that the other patrol organization had a lot to do with him being extradited, At the end of the day if a person can’t stand the fact that someone else is part of a organization that does the same thing as is originations I can understand but the purpose of the 2 organizations is to protect yidden and when one of them goes against a yid its very sad, no matter how deep the politics are you can’t go and ruin a family , there are limits I don’t think ever there was… Read more »

How stupid are you? You can’t see how much extra danger a chassidic man, in jail for the “hate crime” of beating a black would be in? I know the term “messirah” is thrown about very lightly in this community, but I believe this is a true case of straight up messirah where the mossrim are CHAYAV MISAH al pi shulchan aruch! You have a goyishe govt trumping up the charges, looking to make an example of him (i.e. persecuting him) and “throw him to the wolves” and these “Jews” go and hire an investigator to track him down and… Read more »

the facts
December 6, 2012 1:55 pm

The facts are, yitzi did not harm anyone. The black youths were throwing rocks at pregnant women and children, and these black thugs were stopped from doing further harm! These black youths did NOT get any nor did they need any medical treatment or attention, after the so called “beating” by yitzi. Facts, yitzy left NY because the community leaders did not come to his side to defend him, as any community leader should and does in any jewish community! The facts are Yitzy will be brought to a very unfair justice system, or his new young wife and poor… Read more »

FINNALY!
December 6, 2012 1:46 pm

ITS ABOUT TIME HE GOT PUNISHED FOR HIS ACTIONS!!!!

Very Sad
December 6, 2012 1:39 pm

This is why I think moshiach isn’t here. This person is being extradited because another jewish person told the government where he was living. Because of a little feud, a jewish person is facing 12 years in prison away from his wife and children. It makes me sick how yidden can act like this. We have enough enemies and people wanting our destruction. We don’t need to help their cause.

Hashem helps!
December 6, 2012 1:01 pm

Hashem is the real judge. Hashem helps his children

Wow
December 6, 2012 1:00 pm

“the danger Shuchat would be facing in American prison.”

Prisons are a danger all over world when you think about the people who stay in them.

what a disgrace
December 6, 2012 12:51 pm

where is the community? how come no one came to help hm? everyone will just say so sad and move on? we need to get together and do something to help him, in israel and in the us, police beat a jewish boy a month ago on camera and are walking around free and a lubavitcher that was protecting our community during a very violent crime should be treated this way?
