President Donald Trump accepted the resignation of UN Ambassador Nikki Haley on Tuesday, an unexpected departure for one of the president’s longest-serving top aides.
Haley, a former South Carolina governor who was confirmed just days after Trump’s inauguration, announced her decision during a hastily scheduled meeting with Trump in the Oval Office. She said she planned to leave by the end of the year.
“She’s done a fantastic job and we’ve done a fantastic job together,” Trump said.
Initially a critic of Trump, Haley helped shepherd in the administration’s tougher stance at the United Nations, including Trump’s decision to leave the UN Human Rights Council earlier this year. She is also among the most prominent women in Trump’s cabinet.
Haley, widely considered a possible candidate for higher office, also sometimes broke ranks with Trump. In the days leading up to this year’s United Nations General Assembly in New York, Haley indicated Trump’s speech before the Security Council would be focused on Iran. White House officials later dismissed that idea, saying the address would focus on controlling weapons of mass destruction.
Haley has been an outstanding defender of Israel, boldly taking on the anti-Israeli and antisemitic voices often heard in the halls of the UN. She has argued for Israel’s right to defend itself against Islamic terror.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “I would like to thank Ambassador Nikki Haley, who led the uncompromising struggle against hypocrisy at the UN, and on behalf of the truth and justice of our country. Best of luck!”
Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon who has worked closely with Haley, said: “Thank you for representing the values common to #Israel and the United States. Thank you for your support, which led to a change in Israel’s status in the UN. Thank you for your close friendship. You will always be a true friend to the State of Israel.”
A big loss for the whole world, not just America and Israel. She’s a real person standing up for whats right. There’s not many of these type of people left in the world.
Hashem demands that Yidden should behave in a manner of ,בחוקותי תלכו ואת מצוותי תשמרו, to “follow my statutes and observe my mitzvos.” Stop reading newspapers! Stop being involved in politics! Instead, increase your study of Torah, nigleh and Chassidus, and increase your fulfillment of mitzvos meticulously, behidur! Through adding in Torah and mitzvos, we will illuminate the darkness of galus…and “in one moment and one second, in one day and one instant” we will merit the true and ultimate redemption with Moshiach Tzidkeinu, leading to the rebuilding of the third Beis Hamikdash. President Trump on Tuesday said his daughter Ivanka would be a “dynamite” choice to replace outgoing United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, who announced her resignation earlier in the day.
“There’s nothing to do with nepotism but the people that know, know that Ivanka would be dynamite,” Trump said to reporters on the South Lawn of the White House just before a trip to Iowa. “But I’d be accused of nepotism. I think Ivanka would be incredible. I’d be accused of nepotism, even though I’m not sure there’s anybody more competent in the world.”

She was the best part of this administration. It would behoove one of our orgs to reach out while she is still available
Ppl, understand, Just like her, Trump is a temp thing too. 4y or 8y makes no difference. Temp thing regardless and golus still here. We need eternal Moshiach now.
Sad day for Klal Yisroel.
The best Ambassador ever
Nikki Haley made a statement saying she does support Trump and is not running for president. This is sad loss. no reason was given but there’s a pattern of republicans caving in and resigning due to threats and harassment from the left. I have no doubt that her job was not easy on her or her family. She did a great job with courage and integrity- and it was very much to Trump’s credit that such a candidate was assigned to the UN.
Why did it happen? Is there an official reason?
Seems like a great loss.
