Israeli officials said on Wednesday that there has been a breakthrough in the negotiations to reach a deal with the Hamas terror organization to return the Israeli hostages. “We’re working on tying up the last loose ends before a final agreement,” the officials stated, noting that the agreement will most probably be signed later in the evening or on Thursday.
If the deal were to be signed on Thursday, the first three hostages could be expected to be released on Sunday. On the seventh day of the deal, four hostages will be released, on the 14th, 21st, 28th, and 35th days three will be released, and during the final week, the remaining 14 hostages will be released.
According to the report, Hamas will first release the living hostages and then the bodies of the deceased hostages. Israel will release 30 terrorists for every civilian hostage and 50 for every female Israeli soldier.
In addition, Israel will release all Palestinian Arab women and children under the age of 19 who have been detained since October 7th before the end of the first phase.
The total number of released terrorists depends on the number of hostages who will be released and can reach between 990 and 1,650 Palestinian Arab detainees, including men, women, and children.
The report also states that Qatar, Egypt, and the US will supervise the implementation of the agreement.
As part of the first phase, 600 trucks of humanitarian aid will enter the Gaza Strip each day; 50 of them will be carrying fuel. 300 of the trucks will go to the northern Gaza Strip.
Negotiations on the second phase of the deal will begin before the 16th day of the first phase. The second phase is expected to include the release of the remaining living hostages, including soldiers, and a permanent ceasefire.
The third phase is expected to include the remaining bodies of the deceased hostages and the beginning of the rebuilding of Gaza, under Egyptian, Qatari, and UN supervision.
US President-elect Donald Trump commented on the hostage deal that is expected to be announced soon and said that a deal is imminent.
“WE HAVE A DEAL FOR THE HOSTAGES IN THE MIDDLE EAST. THEY WILL BE RELEASED SHORTLY. THANK YOU!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
He later wrote, “This EPIC ceasefire agreement could have only happened as a result of our Historic Victory in November, as it signaled to the entire World that my Administration would seek Peace and negotiate deals to ensure the safety of all Americans, and our Allies. I am thrilled American and Israeli hostages will be returning home to be reunited with their families and loved ones.”
“With this deal in place, my National Security team, through the efforts of Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, will continue to work closely with Israel and our Allies to make sure Gaza NEVER again becomes a terrorist safe haven. Hamas is backtracking on the deal. Hamas now demands israel have no veto on what mass murderers are released, contrary to the deal so there is no deal so far b”h. Also ben gvir and smotrich will leave the govt with their parties if there is a deal. The deal if hamas agrees to the original deal will have to be voted on in knesset and security council and protest to supreme court will be allowed before its implemented
