21 soldiers were killed on Monday in a serious incident in the southern Gaza Strip, it was cleared for publication on Tuesday morning.
A preliminary investigation of the incident reveals that a combined force of IDF, engineering, and artillery from Reserve Battalion 8208, operating in defense missions in the Kissufim sector of the central envelope, arrived for surface excavation tasks in the buffer zone binding Gaza.
As part of these activities, the IDF demolishes Palestinian fields and homes overlooking and firing into the Israeli side, resulting in the destruction of hundreds of structures.
During these operations, fighters located a cluster of 10 two-story buildings, about 600 meters from the border fence on the Gaza side on Monday afternoon.
With the assistance of the engineering unit, forces began to prepare the buildings for explosions, while the artillery and IDF secured the engineering unit’s activities.
Around 3 PM, at least one assailant approached the point, likely emerging from a tunnel and therefore not identified, and fired an RPG missile at the tank securing the operation. As a result, two fighters were killed in the tank, and two others were injured.
Simultaneously, another anti-tank missile was launched by the cell towards a complex of two adjacent houses where dozens of fighters were located as part of the operation.
Preliminary estimates suggest that the RPG missile explosion in the building initiated numerous traps set by the force inside the structure, causing a complete collapse of the two-story complex due to the massive explosion.

545 IDF soldiers have been killed since the start of the war on October 7. More than 200 of them have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the ground maneuver began on October 27.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog said: “An unbearably difficult morning, in which more and more names of the best of our sons… are added to the hero’s tombstone, in a war that has no justice.
“Behind every name is a family whose world has fallen on one, a family that we take to our hearts with sorrow and pain, and at the same time with pride – for the heroism of the generation, for the missions and evils, for sticking to the goal and for the love of the people and the homeland.
“The intense battles are taking place in an extremely challenging space, and we are strengthening the soldiers of the IDF and the security forces who are working with endless determination to realize the goals of the fighting.
“On behalf of the entire nation, I console the families and pray for the healing of the wounded. Even on this sad and difficult morning, we are strong and remember that together we will win.”

This is infuriating
Ukraine 2.0
Is Israel fighting to win or to kill enough of their people before handing Gaza right back to the terrorists for a future repeat?
Are the same security and intelligence leadership who allowed oct 7 massacre to happen, also in charge of the war?
Then expect avoidable loss of life and failure.
No surprise there. It’s been going on for years.
Hashem yishmor
They should just bomb the entire place from above
We cannot fight terror with restraint.
There is not much similarity to Ukraine. The main problem is that Israel does not really have a supportive ally. The US government is bullying us all the time, and the General Staff (Matkal) tries to comply. Because of demands from the White House, the intensity of the strikes is lowered and more importantly, the Gazan population cannot be moved for the duration of the war to neighboring Egypt. This makes it much harder now than in the earlier phase of the war, when we did move the population from Northern Gaza to the South.
Ukraine was actually supported aggresively by the administration. We are aggressively bullied by them. If not for that the war would be easier. Everything would be easier.
Except for the last line. Apparently there is no shmira or safety in the situation, notwithstanding biblical guarantees..
ה’ ינקום דמם
as if nekama solves anything comprehensively
Dresden solved Nazi Germany. The US also had a solution for Japan. The Axis was defeated. Problem solved.
משיח עכשיו!
why are the lives of our soldiers being risked like this
that’s what they signed up for, unfortunately. who among us has a better solution?
They are all drafted not voluntary at all.
Best solution would be to secure the border properly to begin with and repel any breach immediately. Then no need for war.
Well actually really the Israeli security and intelligence leadership should never have uprooted their own people from Gaza to begin with. This whole problem was created by the traitors in charge from the beginning.
Much of what you say is wrong. First of all every Israeli soldier in combat knows that if not for him and those like him, there is no one to defend the country. They join out of a sense of duty. And people volunteer to enter combat, and actually train and compete heavily for it. I know some people involved. One in combat right now, another to be drafted next year and for combat too. What he wanted. Secondly, no, securing the “border” is not sufficient. The enemy has to be destroyed. And this is Eretz Israel. The whole paradigm… Read more »
Sorry I said much of what you say is wrong. But there are two things I agree with, both very important. One, that the “disengagement” is responsible for this, and two, that the upper echelon of the security establishment has included a lot of terrible people. Dan Halutz, Shaul Mofaz, Gantz, Ashkenazi, Eizenkott, Ehud Barak, Ami Ayalon, and on and on.
But given your awareness that yes, expelling “settlers” is disastrous policy, you should equally realize that just keeping a strong fence or wall is not a sufficient answer.
This is crazy! Crazy crazy!!!
Why are we sacrificing our people?!
Bomb the place!! Why send people in???
carpet bombing 140 square miles? and the civilians there? you’d kill 2 million people? and the hostages?
frustrating problem we’ve got with no good solution.
The civilians should be evacuated to El Arish in the Sinai. Egypt should start being part of the solution and not part of the problem.
You’d rather have our soldiers die instead?
I replied to your comment. Mine is either stuck in moderation or awaiting approval.
The solution is to transfer the population to safety across the border for the duration of the war. It is not easy due to diplomatic obstacles, but it is not impossible, and it was the evacuation of the population of Northern Gaza that enabled a more systematic destuction of the terror infrastructure there.
There are no innocent civilians in gaza sorry to break it to u
How much longer
Ad Mosai!!!
A call for action ! A call for Teshuva ! Each one in his own way ! Tell Hashem no more korbanos !!!
Peace in 770 will bring peace to am yisroel worldwide.
The Rebbe spoke about this before, that what happens here in CH has an effect on other jews.
Please, Aibershter, enough tzoros and pain for klal Yisrael!! 😭
עד מתי !!
Sending troops into Gaza when no hostages are actually being rescued and innocent Palestinians are being killed is useless. Creating another cease fire so we can get the hostages out should be the top priority. Netanyahu is prolonging this war to save himself, not the hostages.
Go back to haaretz or al Jazeera.
Hamas is calling for ceasefire because they know that they started this and that they don’t have enough to overpower Israel and therefore they should have seen these repercussions coming so why would Israel now give in after the biggest one day massacre since the Holocaust??!!
And besides, that means that were just waiting for another massacre CH”V to happen from these nasty terrorists
“DONT NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORISTS”
AM YISRAEL CHAI!!!
The gilad shalit hostage deal, freed the same terrorists that organized this massacre.
Do you want a rinse and repeat?
Getting the hostages out is not and cannot be the only priority of this war. We must obliterate Hamas and make sure, in terms that Arabs understand, that they will not commit a massacre such as October 7 again. How to make them understand? Nakba. This is what they understand. It is what was begun in Northern Gaza. The gains there should not be reversed, and the terror group must be annihilated. That is the main obligation of any leader of Israel at this time. I do think we have a moral obligation to free the hostages. But not in… Read more »
Is the elimination of Hamas. We can’t let Hamas do another Oct 7 again
I am amazed by the dearth of people saying this obvious fact.
There should be more people carrying signs לעולם לא עוד.
Not עסקה עכשיו.
It is kind of amazing that the same stupid people in Israel’s defense establishment and media who delivered disasters before, are cheering for the same disasters again. They have learned absolutely nothing. I pray for the PM to continue to hold the line. And for the silent majority who know he is right, to be heard.
All the initial tough talk by the Israeli leadership was just bla bla. After 100 days they are still “encircling “ Sinwar and “closing in” the hostages. We only hear daily of young Jewish men being killed, and not to speak of the maimed, with nothing to show for it except looking good in the eyes of the nations fir allowing humanitarian aid to go in.
Bomb them!
Why waste Jewish blood?!
The goal of Israel should be that Hamas acknowledges defeat. The Rebbe spoke about this many times – “finish them!!” Anything less will be perceived as a victory ( just as the Arabs declared victory in 1956.1967, 1973, etc) which will encourage ever greater efforts to destroy a morally weak Israel that is unwilling to do what is necessary to secure victory
No, not just that Hamas acknowledges defeat. The goal of Israel should be that Hamas is dissolved, and the Hamas leaders brought into graves.
Each of us has to ask him/herself, “If I’m not fighting with mesirut nefesh for Am Yisrael, boots on the ground in Azza, what am I doing to provide protection and zechuyot for our holy soldiers?”
Take on one mitzvah and do it “hineni mekayem mitzvat__ leshem” saving our soldiers now! Mashiach, ad matai????
