Jewish hip-hop is a gift to us all, I love the message packaged in a compelling and contemporary art form. Thanks Prodezra !

What a disapointment.

This is to all the closed minded Lubavitchers who sit here and judge. There is no harm in making Jewish rap. On the contrary,…so many Jewish kids out there listening to goyish music because they like hip-hop. I would rather my kids listen to Nosson and his buddies rap about Jewish topis than they listen to rap about gangs and guns. Wake up Lubavitchers! We are so busy doing mivtzoim, we cannot forget the teenagers!!! This music is an amazing way to get the fry teens back to yiddishkeit. My nieces and nephews who are not frum are out there… Read more »

October 14, 2010 2:27 pm

how are the Jews supposed to be a “light onto the nations” if we can’t reach out to touch their hearts too.. this can be monumental in spreading the Jewish message far beyond Jewish communities. The sages taught that the times before Moshiach will be times when the people (all the Nations) will be ready to walk in the ways of Hashem. What if they can be touched by this? This is an amazing way to get non Jews to consider keeping the 7 Noahide Laws. Maybe this is just a prelude to a time where we can all get… Read more »

October 14, 2010 1:55 pm

Listen buddy, worry about your own tzitzus… Do you really think a boy like Ruven changes his whole life for Hashem and forgets to put on tzitzus? Maybe YOU need the reminder, not Ruven or Nosson.

October 14, 2010 1:51 pm

I grew up mixing with goyim… In fact, I didn’t have any Jewish friends growing up. Now I am a chossid of the Rebbe. Who are you to dictate how my past was “supposed” to be and how it should be in the future? Are you the Aibishter??!! Do you have a G-d complex? You should get that checked out… I know a great frum shrink. Did you know that even YOU, when your shtetl dwelling tuchus is plopped down next to a goy on the nuber 3 train, YOU are supposed to “MIX” with him and let them know… Read more »

Trust me, I know the guy… He wears tzizis.. just bc there aren’t long and flowey you assume he doesn’t wear? judge favourably… plus you really think a guy he wraps teffilin and does mitzvoim wouldn’t wear tzizis…? and to # 28 one if you mean mixing by using a means that is usually non traditionally jewish but no contradiction in halacha, fine, but we aren’t supposed to be comfortable with mixing and with assimilation still on the rise, there are jews in the world who otherwise woudn’t hear a word or torah without a means they could connect too..… Read more »

At times some do tuck in their tzitzis, but since you wanna be nitpicky with your loshon hara…at 3:46 you see the top of the beged around his neck and at 4:07 you can see them hanging short on his left. I suggest this book to you…. https://store.kehotonline.com/index.php?stocknumber=ETZ-MITZ&deptid=&parentid=&page=1&itemsperpage=10

Every Chosid knows that Chaim Zimmerman aka Bob Dylan is Jewish (and yes as you’ve mentioned he spent some time with Chabad and is friends with Manis Friedman)

If you read my comment with a little more care, you will notice that I wrote L’havidil before mentioning Harab Bob Dylan Sheyichyeh

To Number 20…. I guess if you were around in the 1940s when the Friedeker Rebbe came to America and sais AMERICA IZ NISHT ANDRESH”… I GUESS YOU WOULD OF TOLD HIM”WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO NEGATIVE””!!!!!!!!!

no point to it....
October 14, 2010 8:42 am

We are NOT supposed to be comfortable mixing with goyim.

good
October 14, 2010 8:31 am

Its all good!! Its time to start looking at ourselves and taking care of how we personally behave and let others alone. Talent is talent! IF RAP was not something you would find proper then don’t click on the link next time, save your negative feelings, energy and posts. They are spreading light not shade.
Oh and to # 12 you are so right. Except for one thing Bob Dylan is a jew and has spent many years going to Chabad!

Good job keep up the gr8 work

If he is a good chossid where are his tzizus? First my kids are too young to go out and buy their own music so I still have a say in my house. We listen to a lot of older songs from MBD and AF and MBC. I don’t think the music is the reason there are kids who are way way off the derach. I think it is a combination of the schools deciding to kick out kids who have the issues and the parents who just let their kids watch, surf, read of listen to whatever they want.… Read more »

Then Don't Listen to it
October 14, 2010 3:39 am

If you don’t like it.. Don’t listen to it. Right after parshas Noach don’t you think you should be uplifting your Jewish brothers instead of putting them down. Look if someone is going to “lose their soul” for listening to the music, then this music is not for them. this type of music is for those who are still trying to find their soul and their place in yiddishkeit so get over yourselves. And don’t put words into the Rebbe’s mouth. He was very supportive about finding non-traditional ways to reach out to people. That’s what his chassidim do, while… Read more »

i wish i had the time and effort to answear you, but i don’t. Please get your facts straight!
1) over half of the “jewish music” from MBD and avram fried….all come from NON JEWISH- “GOIYESHE” tunes and are put to jewish songs.

To all who disaprove
October 14, 2010 1:26 am

Firstly I understand how you feel and to an extent I agree with you. However, I want to point out something that you may not be aware of: MBD and Avraham Fried tunes, specifically their English songs, sound like (and would be in the same genre as) 1960’s -70’s pop music. A good example is MBD’s Yiddin Yiddin which is knock off of a German band’s song) you can verify this for yourself. HOWEVER FRIED AND MBD DID NOT PRODUCE THIS TYPE OF MUSIC UNTIL ABOUT 10 -15 YEARS AFTER THE THIS TYPE OF MUSIC WAS NO LONGER IN STYLE/HIP.… Read more »

I am still amazed how people in Crown Heights can’t simply take responsibility for their won families. I don’t allow this music in my home, but for others it’s great. Why is that option not available? Vus art deer, that someone else is enjoying life? Live, and let live. Something that doesn’t in CH. That’s why I left. All those years of OT taught me that are cynicism has reached new heights, and anyone in the community worth talking to, got the heck out years ago. Leave this guy alone, and be loving to the community members which may need… Read more »

Yasher Koach goood luck!!! moshiach now!! thank you !
October 14, 2010 12:22 am

This gets not frum Jews excited for Judiasm “Judiasm is cool” and instead of kids turning away from Judiasm (and telling there parents idont want to go to chabad concerts in shul etc..) they see how cool it is. Moshiach is going to come when the wellsprings of Chassidus is spread. This is a way to spread Chassidus.

thumbs up

#9, you hit the nail on the head, but just to add: 1st if all, I went to yeshiva with Reuven (prodezra) and he is taka a special chosid.
Now regarding the music, you might be right that frum ppl dont have to listen to this, but many Yidden who arent frum would NEVER listent o Avraham Fried or MBD. Sorry. If the french national anthem can become a chassidisher niggun, lets make holy rap 🙂

Awesome!

You’re kidding… The Rebbe was very clear in, if you have a talent, use it to elevate the world and to bring kedusha into the world. These rappers are reaching yidden that would otherwise never even think about listening about mitzvahs or becoming religious. Just because you are too frum or to shtark to “lower” youself to this, fine. Don’t listen to it. It’s not for you. This is for the yidden who would otherwise Gd forbid become assimilated because they feel like they would have no connection to yiddishkeit or they are too scared that people like you would… Read more »

You say “Such a Chassid” Listen this is very sad, we have 2 step down 2 non jewish music and put jewish things 2 it like rapp. Y can’t we just stick 2 jewish music or make up new jewish songs, but y take from the Goyim, we have our own or could make our own y take from them. Hey if 1 wants 2 listen 2 non jewish music listen 2 it but don’t bring the Rebbe & torah in2 Rapp. Avrohom Fried, MBD made up their own songs y can’t we. This is so stupid in Lubavitch that… Read more »
