New York radio station Z100’s famed DJ Mo’ Bounce who hosts a daily show from 6-10pm interviewed Tzvi and Sheva Tauby, directors of iVolunteer.
iVolunteer is a dynamic visitation program that sends volunteers to the homes of Holocaust survivors, providing them with companionship and much-needed assistance. Our volunteers are carefully matched with survivors who live nearby and share common interests. Through weekly visits, volunteers build rewarding and enduring friendships with survivors.
Since the program’s inception in 2008 iVolunteer has recruited over 300 volunteers who have visited more than 200 Holocaust survivors in their homes.
iVolunteer has collectively made over 5,500 visits to the homes of frail Holocaust survivors around NYC.
The program’s volunteers are young professionals who are excited by the chance to reach across the generations and establish unique friendships, making a lasting difference in their lives. The excitement that survivors feel when visitors are present has a profound impact on them. They look forward to their visits almost as much as the seniors do. Sarah, one volunteer, sums it up this way, “It is so inspiring to spend time with them. They have a wealth of wisdom and knowledge to share and a unique view of life’s challenges.”
