Last night over 200 men and women filled the Bnos Devorah Hall in Lakewood, New Jersey to celebrate 19 Kislev, the “Rosh Hashana L’Chasidus.” Renowned speaker and author Rabbi Shais Taub led the farbrengen which was interspersed with lively singing and dancing.
The evening began with a special talk for women entitled “Spiritual Tools for Emotional Wellbeing from Tanya” in which Rabbi Taub outlines methods for attaining greater peace of mind and joy.
Afterwards, a farbrengen for men began. In his first talk, Rabbi Taub spoke about the selflessness that Chassidus brings out in every Jew and how we can serve Hashem without any ulterior motive. In another talk, Rabbi Taub spoke about how Chassidus teaches us that we need to fuse the material and the spiritual and use them both to fulfill Hashem’s desire for a dwelling place in this world.
Attendees commented that this year’s event was by far the biggest 19 Kislev event ever in Lakewood.
The event was organized by Chabad of Toms River and Chabad of Jackson and sponsored by CJ Studios, Yapchik, and the Rabbinical College of America.
