As many times in the past, the Mesivta at Yeshiva Schools of Pittsburgh again amazes with a record in Yud Shevat Mivtza.
This week we end the Mivtza, and we are proud to say that we have reached over TWO THOUSAND Oisyos (!) learned by heart collectively, by the Talmidim of the Mesivta.
The program of learning set out by the Shluchim was to compete to learn as many Oisyos of Toras Menachem Vol. 1 as possible.
We know that following the celebrations of Hei Teves, the Rebbe demanded from the Chassidim to get to work in preparation for Yud Shevat.
As preparation in the weeks preceding Yud Shevat, the Shluchim have strategized an amazing idea: a competition between the classes of the Mesivta to learn paragraphs of Sichos that the Rebbe told over in the year prior to accepting the Nesius, in which he stressed on the concepts of Hiskashrus – connecting to the Rebbe, and its importance to us even in these times.
Having given every participating Bochur his very own Sefer to learn from, the Sichos were able to be learned from the source.
The Bochurim were pleasantly surprised to find that they were able to enjoy and relate to the Sichos, which are many times illustrated with a story, and which stress time and again on the theme of Hiskashrus, and how it is still relevant.
Bochurim that haven’t memorized Sichos before, were seen teaching each other, and pressing to be taught more and more, and be tested on it.
The Bochurim are of course getting amply rewarded with an amazing trip, a BBQ, smoothies and milkshakes.
We are sure to make the Rebbe proud!
