New program from The Shluchim Office for young Shluchos concludes its first successful round.
Modeled after the popular Monopoly game, Chasidopoly was launched for girls age 13-14 in grades 7-8 of the Nigri International Shluchim Online School.
The game helped each girl grow her personal portfolio of Yiddishkeit and Chassidishkeit, and ensure that the actions that fill her day should be full of meaning. Like in Monopoly, players are proud of their investments and real estate, in Chosidopoly, the girls came out proud of their Chassidishkeit and status as Shluchos.
Each girl received an online personal checklist, with items like chitas, sefer hamitzvas, tzedaka, ahavas yisroel, and other learning to be accomplished. As they reached goals, they would take turns spinning the virtual dice and moved spaces on the board, their checklists growing with them.
“Once a month we would have after-school workshops and programs, where we would discuss different things that pertained to our Shlichus and daily lives. Once Mrs. Dina Hurwitz came to speak to us at a virtual Lag B’omer Bonfire, while another time we had a live debate on a subject relevant to our lives now.” said a seventh grader and shlucha to Calgary, Alberta. “These lessons and memories will be engraved in my mind forever.”
Like in Monopoly, there were “Challenge” cards, only in Chasidopoly they were opportunities for new hachlatos. And of course, the “money” they earned in their Chassidopoly bank accounts was available to purchase personalized prizes.
“Chassidopoly added so much to my Shlichus,” said a young shlucha to Portland, Maine. “Even though it may be over, I will not stop my personal Chassidopoly!” she told her seventh and eighth grade classmates and friends at the games concluding event.
…When studying in Eirchin 15b the passage “The third tongue1 kills three persons,” the Baal Shem Tov translated and explained: Lashon hara (the evil tongue; slander) kills all three, the inventor of the slander, the one who relates it and the listener. This is all in spiritual terms, which is more severe than physical murder.
From my grandfather’s aphorisms: What good is Chassidus and piety if the main quality is lacking – ahavat Yisrael, love of another – even to the extent of causing (G‑d forbid) anguish to another!
i dont think its right for this work to be publicized, who was the graphic artist? i dont see any mention of it, and they didnt ask permission.
not ok
Beautiful , nice as well that every block focuses on the positive . hence u can never “fall” on the wrong move . its a game of only moving further in making good “moves” . ty yasher koach
How do Yidden show they are yearning for Geula?
Isn’t by having Achdus?
Isn’t having Achdus, the opposite of Loshon Hara?
How can someone think they are yearning for Geula if they are saying Loshon Hara?
Achdus is critical. If you are looking for the thing that the rebbe clearly said will bring Moshiach is to learn about geula. The rebbe said it clearly that the one thing holding back the geula is yiden yearning for it which comes through learning inyonei Moshiach and geula. It’s time we all (unite together and) do it!!
Amazing school ! The academic social and chasidishkeit !
Kol Hakavod! What an engaging format for challenging young girls to grow. One suggestion: given that this game has been designed for young shluchos, perhaps the characters on the board can be female rather than male characters (i.e. chassidistes rather than chassidim).
The importance of seeing female role models is one that the Rebbe raised in regard to the cover design of Moshiach times.
Let’s give the Shluchim Office a round of applause!
Their dedication to the shluchim is incredible!
This is something both the Rebbe and the Chofetz Chiam seem to agree will bring Moshaich.
The Rebbe talked about achdus bringing Moshiach, which obviously is the opposite of Loshon Hara and the Chofetz Chiam said that the only reason we are still in Galus is because of Loshon Hara, which obviously indicates that if we stop it and have the Achdus instead, then both tghe Rebbe and the Chofetz Chaim are saying essentially the same thing.
If families are to play this game, let it include the one thing, two of the greatest sages, agreed would bring Moshiach.
Can this be made into a real game that can be distributed to lubavitcher families worldwide?
