This past Sunday afternoon, Heichal Halimud Beis Michoel opened its doors for learning. The excitement for the new location was palpable as visitors came. Many were happy that an additional location was added to Yagdil Torah. As is the nature of the Heichal Halimud, it is a convenient and conducive place for Torah learning that is fully stocked with sefori, including a vast English and children’s seforim library.
Currently, the location will be open 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The exception to this will be from a little bit before shkia until a few hours later. For this week, that time will be from 4:15 – 9 pm. For future updates, please join our email list by visiting YagdilTorah.org.
The Heichal is located at 1475 President – entrance from Albany at gate before alley and is open from 6AM – 2AM 365 days a year – aside for the times mentioned.
Although we advertised that there would be a Mincha and Maariv minyan, there are no current minyanim.
Yagdil Torah has released the following statement:
We wish to inform that we asked a Shala before leasing this place and we were told to lease it and keep it open at all hours with certain conditions- and we still aren’t!
Deciding to close our doors during a large portion of prime time for learning was a painful decision that will probably cause our Mosed damage. However, we did it for the time being because we assumed it is important for the community and will study it further. In the long run, the way we can determine how important this is to the community is when we see if people acknowledge what we have done through supporting our work in a significant way. Not only support due to the majority of families in Crown Heights and thousands beyond who have benefited from our work, but also to balance out the damage we are absorbing. In this way, we can “count votes” on our actions.
Donations can be made at yagdiltorah.org or via (347) 223-5943.
It’s beautiful to see the initiative of yagdil torah. Expanding for the benefit of crown heights bruchnius. May you go mchayol el
Chayol and have all the funds you need. People like you deserve the funds bc you know exactly what to use it for!!
On another note. I don’t really understand the article & what the problem is with staying open. Please explain
The entrance of the beis medrash is near the entrance to the women’s mikva. They need to ensure privacy and anonymity for those attending the mikva, so the beis medrash needs to closed during mikva hours.
Location, location!
Thank you to all involved
Its not clear who is making them close
Although they asked a shayla to a Rov, the Badatz made them close then.
Good.
Why didn’t they ask Badatz in the first place?
its best not to make assumptions and the sort and if any important practical question to address Yagdil Torah directly
