you are right. If there is a girl who is inspired by this campaign, and wants to be dressed b’tznius, maybe we can set up an exchange – bring in a relatively new short skirt, and exchange it for a kosher one. I would be willing B”N to donate the cost of several kosher skirts, and I’m sure many others will be willing to do the same. Who can organize this?

Rebbe's Mivtza: Tznius helps protect Jews in Eretz Yisrael
July 18, 2014 5:27 pm

The Rebbe said this in an address to N’shei Chabad. While you are right, as Bilaam did not affect the tzniut of the ladies but the men, but here the Rebbe seems to be referring to how ladies can affect Israel’s divine security. Plus there is a second sicha someplace where the Rebbe said the same thing (1973?) also to women.

Tznius for men and for women
July 17, 2014 3:17 pm

Since when did Tznius become synonymous with woman? Tznius applies to men as much as to women. This Posuk that the Rebbe quotes talks about the ‘camps’ of the army, which consists of men (not of women), and the Posuk clearly says that the Tznius will be in the ‘camp’ (of men) then hashem will protect. True, the Rebbe spoke this Sicha to women, but you cannot exclude the simple meaning of the Posuk which talks about and to men. All the Rebbe does, is to include women to give them the Zchus and to add them also to help… Read more »

Touching
July 17, 2014 11:14 am

This is beautiful. Though I should point out that I only allow my girls to eat ice cream with a spoon. It is a lot more aidele. together we can build a spiritual iron dome.

This could go very far!
July 17, 2014 1:57 am

I liked the idea of keeping it going the whole year, not just for camps, and also out of school/camp.

Quite right, my son is a “working boy” & his #1 point when I asked him the type of girl he is looking for was she must be tzanuah.

a counselor
July 16, 2014 8:41 pm

are counselors included? i want a prize too!

July 16, 2014 8:37 pm

You are exactly right. Externals are just that unless accompanied by love for a fellow Jew (and human being).

Love it
July 16, 2014 8:20 pm

Yasher koach!!! Moshiach Now!

My husband is chasidish
July 16, 2014 8:06 pm

And he has always worked hard and he’s now on the way to becoming a gvir — all while still under 40 — and yes, he’s only gotten more chasidish!

good idea
July 16, 2014 8:06 pm

But as a suggestion for a child who may not own Tznius clothing G-d forbid, maybe there could be a stack of tznius clothing available that a child could take home and wear to camp. It’s the mothers who usually choose the young kids cloths. I’m sure your intention is not to make kids blamed for their (parents) choice of a wardrobe!

Is there anything i can do to get an ice cream?

Would like to see a campaign for teenagers/adults. Last time i checked that’s where the main issue lies.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that picture, other than your comment.

modern boys
July 16, 2014 1:40 pm

I had many boys who are on the modern side (touch beards etc) tell me they want a girl who dress tzniusdik, Men dont like when girls flaunt it for all to see. They are embarrased by it. I still have to hear the boy tell me they want a girl who wears short skirts etc…

Straight Halacha - Torah Hashkafa
July 16, 2014 11:39 am

#18 proves the confusion… Know the halochos and then you will realize that tznius is not a contradiction to anything in the world! Quite to the contrary, more tznius more Syatta D’shmaya = more hatzlocha all around!!
Wake up Yidden – invite the Shchina and that will bez”H herald Moshiach; may we be zocheh NOW!

July 16, 2014 11:04 am

long overdue.

The obsession with forcing tzniyus in this community is making the issue worse
July 16, 2014 10:51 am

How about a campaign for Ahavas Yisroel and Middos Tovos? The main flaw which has infiltrated the Crown Heights community is snobby, nasty, and rude behavior. Adults, children…. it’s contagious. If we could all just learn to treat each other respectfully and greet each other with a smile maybe we could help all of Klal Yisroel.

July 16, 2014 10:31 am

I don’t think that would be necessary. They are less of the problem.

Fed up
July 16, 2014 9:45 am

Getting quite sick of walking the streets of CH! It’s enough already! This is a chassidisher community bringing up a lot of kids kah – if u don’t like it the way it’s ment to be just move out! Go andake ur owns schools, Shuls shops and the rest and do whatever u want but just not here! And btw it doesn’t even look good. No ones interested so I don’t know who ur dressing up ( down ) for!

Who came up with the idea? It amazing!
July 16, 2014 9:40 am

This is amazing just the idea behind it-for Eretz yisroel is inspiring for the adults too!and now that the days r hot now ice cream is the perfect thing!

July 16, 2014 9:14 am

Tznius is plain HALACHA !! not a minhag & not a hidur mitzva or chasidish….there are many working boys even professionals that are looking for tznius girls!!

How about a tznius campaign for the men...
July 16, 2014 8:50 am

Our teenage boys are looking up to u and the whole modern look of the young married men is not befitting a lubavicher chossid!

to #18
July 16, 2014 8:45 am

how about a husband who will support the family spiritually?

to # 18
July 16, 2014 8:30 am

I’m married to a chassidishe man and he supports our family. doesn’t have to be a contradiction. wanting a working husband doesn’t mean you have to be a bum. having standards and living life according to torah is essential for a happy marriage, regardless of what type of guy you want.

a contest for the mothers
July 16, 2014 8:29 am

Great idea. They should dress tznius after camp hours too.Maybe a prize for mothers who dress tznius that their camp tuition or yeshiva tuition will be paid for one child

July 16, 2014 8:22 am

Chassidish doesn’t equal poor! My father is very chassidish and always provided for his large family bh. You need to rethink your priorities!

Thank you
July 16, 2014 7:20 am

May it bring Moshiach Now!!

Who is this for?
July 16, 2014 7:09 am

Can camps out of town somehow join?

To #9
July 16, 2014 7:06 am

they don’t want a chassishe husband. If they did they would dress the part.

Question
July 16, 2014 6:34 am

How are they measuring tznius? Most people in CH dress nominally tznius even if it doesn’t fit the spirit of the law and they look like models.
And what of the girls who will be embarrassed because they weren’t deemed tznius by the counselor? Little girls’ clothes are chosen by their mothers…and making a girl feel embarrassed can turn her off from tznius (and Yiddishkeit) entirely.

I like the idea but am not sure this is the right way to do it.

And p.s., I am a tznius fanatic.

When writing in English...
July 16, 2014 2:52 am

…please use the word “leg.” The entire leg needs to be covered. Not just the “foot.” “Fus” in Yiddish is the source of the issue.

Thank you from Israel!
July 16, 2014 1:54 am

Every mitzva you do, especially from kids, helps us & raises morale. we personally are not in the hardest hit areas, but our brothers & sisters are going through hell down south. This is a beautiful thing & it is great to see all the camps joining together. Mechayil el chayil, keep praying for Eretz Yisrael.

so beautiful
July 16, 2014 1:16 am

amazing
July 16, 2014 12:33 am

thanks so much
p.s.
the pic of the neshomo with the ice cream is not so beseder..(the hair is longer then halacha allows out of a ponytail or braid ect.)

Camps?
July 15, 2014 11:18 pm

Can we get this out to ALL Chabad camps?

Amazing!
July 15, 2014 11:13 pm

Lets also truly teach them the WHY of Tznius, so that when they are older they dont just follow fashion, they follow what is right
Thank you to who ever came up with this!

BR day camp?
July 15, 2014 11:00 pm

Thank you to the organizers! I will tell my grandchildren. They love being tzniusdik, and now they can get a treat too? Wow I hope Beis Rivka day camp is participating.

Thank YOU!!
July 15, 2014 10:33 pm

May Hashem grant us the zchus that mitoich shloy lishma bah lishma, as the Rebbe would say. Let them eat and indulge in the ice cream and get that great feeling of dressing b’tznius!
“Try it, you’ll like it.” What better time to start than now. May it be a z’chus for acheinu bnei Yisroel especially B’Eretz Hakodesh!!!

which camps?
July 15, 2014 10:31 pm

are all camps in crown heights part of this wonderful campaign?

Beautiful idea
July 15, 2014 10:22 pm

Positive is always the way to go ! Kids want to do the right thing .as a teacher I often see students very confused when learning abt tzneus .they want to do what’s right but their parents often buy them things that are no tzneus.

July 15, 2014 9:55 pm

Keep up the good work and please extend it to the adults who are the root of the problem, including all the girls looking for shiduchim. They don’t seem to get that if they are not tsnius they will not get a chasidishe husband.

It's about time
July 15, 2014 9:39 pm

We are living in a generation and community where unfortunately tznius is not as crucial and important as allways was and must be. And the biggest prob. Of all is that LUBAVITCHER MOTHERS are dressing their children with terrible standards and if nothing is done about it now, it might cv”s become our new standerds

thank you
July 15, 2014 9:35 pm

For this important and wonderful inyan

its nice to know there are women left who care about this
walking around the neighborhood one would never know

One thing is missing
July 15, 2014 9:29 pm

This is lovely campaign and Eretz Yisroel should be protected by the merit of these girls. One thing: the clothes should be loose and not form fitting, that’s the trick. Hatzlocha raba!

beautiful!!!!!
July 15, 2014 9:21 pm

mothers help your daughters by setting an examle too!

Very good
July 15, 2014 8:50 pm

Tznius and shmirahs einayim saves lives. There is a lot about the tremendous ruchnius effects about this important thing that has to do with the yesod of one’s avodas Hashem.

Love! Lets get them on board when they are young!
