Chanie, born with a form of dwarfism (hair cartilage hypoplasia), was raised by her parents with love and acceptance. Although her condition required many surgeries and therapy, Chanie pushed herself beyond human limits and developed into a much loved and popular young adult.
Incredibly Chanie married Shmuel Mordechai, an exceptional young man. They were a beautiful, loving couple. Miraculously Chanie carried 3 beautiful babies to term, although she endured many life threatening complications.
Laughter and warmth filled their home and they looked forward to a bright future together. Chanie regularly speaks at schools and before general audiences, inspiring thousands with her life story of perseverance- with a smile- despite her challenges.
And then the unthinkable happened: Shmuel Mordechai was diagnosed with cancer.
Despite the positive prognosis, after grueling rounds of chemo and stem cell transplant, he suddenly passed away from cardiac arrest during a routine procedure.
The depth of Chanie’s sadness and grief over the passing of her lifelong partner and friend, along with the devastation of 3 orphans is just too much for her family and friends to bear. They were such a special and unified couple. As her mother remarked at the Shiva, “They were one person – he was the feet and she was the mouth!”
We cannot diminish the intensity of her pain and loss but we can help her financially to keep her family intact. Although Chanie is atypically short, she is a giant in our eyes.
Please open your hearts and donate generously to this exceptional young almanah. In the merit of your generosity and kindness, may Hashem protect you and your family and grant you health and happiness always.

I just donated to alleviate some of my pain at hearing Chaine’s story. I hope my donation – and those of others – will alleviate some of hers.
People, you have to get life insurance! It’s not a luxury.
At lease sign up for Areivim where the most you pay is $28 per month and some months is less or nothing. All your young children will be taken care of.
