Why Was the Protest Really at 770

Although a police shooting occurred in Crown Heights at 770 - Lubavitch World Headquarters last week, Saturday night’s protest apparently had nothing to do with it. Full Story

Actually he didn’t tell the cop to put down the gun, he was sweet talking his way gaining the trust of his threat by reassuring him that its okay to “put di knif” since the offercer won’t shoot you. And it worked. So actually he WAS %100 correct

No matter how much people rely on police for safety and no matter how much the police do their job to protect others a lot of the time, it is no less murder (or negligent homicide) when a police officer does it! Eric Garner was physically attacked by the police while standing on a street despite not being informed that he was under arrest and without fighting back. Eric was subjected to an illegal choke-hold and unable to breathe while he was (wrongfully) tackled and brought down to the ground. When the choke-hold was released the same officer then proceeded… Read more »

hasem says not to really on miracles. we must still take action and not wait for moshiach, more good deeds and programs

If you watch the video

.. you will see even though the intruder was waving a knife and saying kill the jews, the yidden were still saying to the police “Dont shoot him !”. This protest is ridiculous and misplaced.

WE LOVE LIFE, including one who threatens us. I dont know why they didnt try to taser him instead of shooting, BH there was a video, otherwise we’d have another blood libel/ pogrom on our hands R”L.

What really bothered me was also the police using filthy language in our precious Rebbe’s shul. But at least they came to offer protection…

Am I crazy?

When I heard there was a protest in front of 770 I just assumed that members of the Black community had gathered to ask the Jewish community for forgiveness that a member of their community had come into 770 and tried to kill a bochur. G-d Forbid.

First, you should secure your home such that people cannot break in.

Second, have you considered obtaining a firearm and learning how to use it?

If we would decorate traffic lights with the heads of criminals, there would be less crime. Trust me.

I don’t know which planet you live on, I live in Crown Heights where I was robbed and vandalized a dozen times in my home and my car broken into a half a dozen times topped off by waking up in middle of the night to find a big burly black man in the doorway of my BEDROOM! I am not a cop, but if I owned a gun I give you my word I would shoot to kill. How many cops have gotten shot while on duty???? I’ll bet you can’t even count that high?????

Everyone listen. It is a fact that police use of deadly force on civilians in this country has spiraled out of control. Not so much in New York but in many many other places around the country. The police usual excuse for shooting someone is some outlandish make believe notion of danger. Such as “he might of had a gun in his pants…” or “he was too big for me” or he “could have decided to grab my gun and shoot me” or “He could have decided to turn around and run me over.” In furgeson the cop said that… Read more »

There is a boy in the hospital right now who was almost knifed to death by an attacker who scoped out the place in advance and then lunged at the police who stopped him from finishing the attack on the boy. I am glad that the criminal will never be on the streets again. The only protest I will join will be protesting what is happening to INNOCENT people and more and more in these times. I do not believe this premeditated crime- and with all of it’s video footage- bears any relation to the other story you are referring… Read more »

Uh Huh - nothing to do with it

770 and it’s immediate surroundings are almost entirely populated by Jews. In protesting there of all places, their actions speak louder than words- I don’t need anyone to tell me that one plus one equals anything other than.. anti-semitism from the blacks and from the whites who are largely pro muslim and pro any anti-Jewish endeavors, though they won’t soil their own hands with it and ruin their ‘humanitarian’ reputation- they leave others to do the work, like the dead guy they were supporting in this protest.

How is he crazy when an officer beat up a fellow Jew right here in Crown Heights. What if there was no cameras around in that incident huh. Some folks enjoy a police state.

#4 Most interaction with cops the suspect has nothing on them, Cops are to trigger happy.

really we should protest ???
when they will protest about black being killed period..
if they cared about blacks being killed they would protest in their own neighborhood …
how many unarmed blacks are killed a year by blacks ? and how many unarmed blacks are killed by police .
then decide what we should protest about

What difference does it make whether a person has a weapon or not? Michael Brown was “unarmed”, but he was still attacking Darren Wilson, and could easily have harmed him with his bare hands.

And of course in many cases the policeman doesn’t know whether a suspect has a weapon, and can’t take the chance that he does; if he reaches into his waistband, then if the cop waits till he sees a gun or a knife it may be too late.

Every protester would call 911 if they were under attack, that does not mean that police should be killing unarmed individuals. this is what they were protesting, and it’s a shame that the Orthodox community has not participated in this protest.

Irony
December 14, 2014 4:56 pm

Ironic that the police were out in force, not only to keep the peace, but to protect the protester’s freedom of speech and personal safety. I wonder if they noticed that.
