Lubavitchers joined CBAJ and Shomray Torah synagogues in Albany, NY in celebrating Daf Yomi Siyum Masechta Yoma this week.
The event also commemorated the 40th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War, with a documentary film planned and written by Head Shliach of the Capital District, Rabbi Yisroel Rubin.
The short 10 minute documentary shares interviews with Israeli veterans of the Yom Kippur War, describing the break out of the war on Yom Kippur.
One of the interviewees recalls when the Rebbe sent Shluchim to celebrate Chanukah with all the soldiers on the front lines.
The Albany Daf Yomi instructor compares the “training” of the Kohen Gadol as described in Gemora Yoma, to the training of the soldiers who fought in the Yom Kippur War. Then, in memory of Ariel Sharon, the above mentioned people speak about his greatness as a military leader, as the main General in the Yom Kippur War.
Rabbi Nachman Simon, Director of Chabad of Delmar, NY spoke about the unique power of Teshuva on Yom Kippur.
