United Lubavitcher Yeshiva – Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn will be honoring their devoted longtime teacher Mr. George Landberg on Motzoei Shabbos Parshas Vayetzei.
This year, Mr. Landberg will be teaching in the high school for the 50th year.
“You know you’ve been around for a while when you are teaching the grandchildren of your first students,” says Landberg, still quick-witted.
Some students may remember him for the “Geneva Convention” and some for “the Raiming tubes” but “his lessons will always keep us entertained,” staff at the Yeshiva said.
Landberg merited a famous miracle from the Rebbe, after which the sight of his newborn son was miraculously saved. Till this very day he keeps his part of the bargain and puts on his Teffilin daily.
Recently at the Bris of a grandchild of one of his former students, he brought his Teffilin to be checked, while he used his uncle’s Teffilin for a few days he had some slight repairs done on his Teffilin.
The Melaveh Malkah on Nov. 20, 2010, at 7:30 pm will be held at the Young Israel of Ave. K at 2818 Ave. K in Brooklyn.
For reservations, information, or to put an Ad in the Journal please call (718) 859-7600 ext 101 or email [email protected].
He was witty alright!!!! I used to make him angry with my antics once in a while, but he sure made us learn. I owe my command of the English language to him.
Very cool. Always was.
Mr. Landberg
It was my great honor and pleasure to be part of the well-deserved recognition you received last Saturday evening. Despite your obvious humility, I hope that you’re aware of how many generations of students you’ve influenced in a positive way. After all these years, your integrity, your talent and your enthusiasm for learning still stand out prominently in my early memories.

A special Yaasher Koach to Rabbi Yitzchok Hecht, who went above and beyond the call of duty to make the evening a truly fitting tribute to a towering figure in the history of the Lubavitcher Yeshiva.
Grad of 8th grade in 1969. Thanks to Irv Goller for e-mail. Known then as Willie Fried today known as Rabbi Shlomo Fried. Mr. Landberg honored me as a young man that had perfect attendance my entire eight years in Elementary. At my final year in High School I would have had 12 years of perfect attendance. So a week before graduation I intentionaly skipped a day of school; not to be embarrassed again for perfect attendance. Thanks for enlighting us about baseball. In our 8th grade I formed a baseball team and I was captain and pitcher of the… Read more »

Mr. Landberg supplied a few old pictures. Check them out at blog@Zalmy Chesney.org Please make reservations, Ads need to be in by November 8th
his thumbs remained the same!
he was my teacher in uly on bedford and dean he used to send us across the street to get him a tomatoe juice!
Wow the memories!
regarding the story: He once brought his son into class and he showed us the scar in his eye. Kfar Chabad once wrote an article about his story and included photos from a medical journal write-up about it. Amazing Stuff!!!
The best teacher I ever had. I remember his white Oldsmobile convertible with red leather interior. He drove my brother and me home during the blackout of November 1965. Who remembers reading baseball?
Mr. Landberg…..WOW – What a Blast from the Past !!!
He was just the coolest teacher in the entire school.
I can still hear him using his then-customary term of endearment towards his students, “My Boys”.
I also remember this spirit with which he accepted his monthly paycheck when it was delivered to him during class..”Here comes another Bounce-a Roo” !!!
What special memories of a truly unique individual and a beloved educator. I’m sure Mr. Landberg is part of the reason that I’ve been teaching for over 36 years.
He is my teacher right now and he is so good.
“you better not stretch. Do you see me stretching and I am 74!
nooch= noochie gross
dooch=mendel duchman

Mr. landberg do you still need a match? I would always give you a book of matches form my pocket. from the 8th gread 1965.
loved your math lessons. was the best in class for math.
He taught for a while on Eastern Parkway,
Is he still running? His legs look pretty strong from the picture? He used to jog, anyone remember that? He was also proud of his Lexus when we first got it back then, he says it started smooth no matter how cold it was…

(Sholom Meir) …that kid aught to stop growing… that way!
I was in his first class in Bedford and Dean. An excellent teacher. I’m glad to hear that he is still around. May he have a long life.

The best secular studies teacher ULY ever had and still has. Kol Hakovod Mr. Landberg! Til 120. Long, healthy, happy years for you and your family.
I was in his 8th grade english class in 1973 when the incident with his newborn son occurred. I was witness to a miracle. The doctors had already “written him off”
We all chipped in and bought Mr. Landberg the tefillin as a present after the Rebbe made him that promise.
It was a moment I will never forget.
nice to see you!
What a character… ill never forget the scholastic magazines he would bring us. We would look forward to it all week..
he taught me and my father. I will never forget his lessons.
noochie….duchie…and woochie……r they gonna be @ the mm?
Yes, while math and computer science as well as language skills are necessary, the so called classics are worthless knowledge. Shakespeare contains much philosophy that is counter to Torah and especially to Chassidus.
I’ve heard great things of Mr. Landberg from my father and I remember seeing that class picture in a yearbook that is collecting dust somewhere…. BTW…. its is Binyomin M. Nemon, D.O. not MD….
George, you ain’t no da*n good!
I cannot believe it. Fifty years. A YOVEL!
Landberg is the fellow who told my mother that if I were hanging precariously from a thirtieth floor window and he stretched out a helping hand to save me, I would refuse it!
May he live a long and healtyh life. God bless him.
I guarantee he is not in the yeshiva for the pay. What an unbeleivable story with him when his son was born and the docs said he would be blind. Rabbi Tennenbaum ZT”L was able to get a bracha from the rebbe that is Mr Lamberg would put on teffilin, his son would have no problem with his sight. And until this day he puts on those teffilin!
My best high school teacher
Spending 2 yrs in his class prepared me for college and ivy league graduate education

Any one knows where to find Hyman Weider?
your looking great!
Shakespare (however you spell him) must be real tumah, because the shakespare plays I learned in Bais Rivkah high school at the same time as you did, I can rattle them off by heart, literally, but Haazinu, I remember the first 3 words. Sad!!! Metamtem hamoach vehalev!!!
I was in his high school class in the years 1975-77. I wish I would remember everything else that I learned, as good as the Shakespare poems that he knocked into our heads.
Seeing all my high school teachers sure brings back memories.
Wow finaly he’s getting a drop of the honor he’s due proud to be a member of his 06-08 class
