Lubavitcher Yeshiva of Ocean Parkway held their annual Melava Malka event honoring Mr. Gershon (George) Landberg, a teacher in the school for fifty years.
Joining the guest of honor on the dais were Rabbi Noochie Gross – Alumnus of the year, Mr. Aron Szanzer – Parent of the year, Mr. Landberg’s son, and his Chairman at Touro College Dr. Lieberman, and Principal Rabbi Shmuel Dechter.
Student Yehoshua Lipkind recited the Rebbe’s Kapitel, and the evening’s guest speaker was Rabbi Simon Jacobson.
The highlight of the evening was an emotional speech by Mr. Landberg, who told of the miraculous recovery of his son’s eyesight many years ago, after he received a blessing from the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
OMG! I didn’t recognize him at first. He was one tough teacher in a good way… he would tell us this story every year to his new students. But I never knew him to be frum other than putting on Teffilin and here he is wearing a black hat! Nice guy and a marathon Runner as well. He almost made the worlds record in his age bracket trying to run 100 miles, which he did only not the day he was being assessed by the Wolds Records Committee. Kol Hakavod. Moshiach now.
Proud to have been a student at uly op and a student of mr landberg in chovavie hope he continues strong for many more years
