Eliezer Alpert, a”h was killed Friday when he went to dispose of garbage at a site in the Yachin Center in Petach Tikvah, Israel.
Alpert was employed as a maintenance worker in the Yachin shopping center, and while trying to dispose of garbage, became caught in the large trash compactor.
Hatzolah and EMS officials responded and pronounced him dead on the scene.
State officials stated the death was tragic and “totally avoidable,” ordering an investigation.
Alpert was a 24-year-old convert to Judaism who became a Chabad chossid.
Eliezer, who had a Jewish father, had been in Israel since 1992, and converted to Judaism 5 years ago. He was a close friend of Rabbi Ephraim Dagan and his wife, Shluchim in Tel Aviv.
