A new Torah was welcomed Sunday in Montreal, Canada, with song and dance in the snow and ice cold weather.
Over 300 men, women and bochurim attended the celebration of the Torah which was donated by Heshy and Shoshana Fellig to the new Mesivta Ateres Menachem.
The Felligs dedicated it in memory of their son Elisha David Fellig, Heshy’s father R’ Yosef Mordechai – Joe Fellig and Shoshana’s parents Rabbi Moshe Yitzchak Hecht and his wife Rivka OBM.
The event took place on the auspicious day of Hei Teves at Congregation Anshei Lubavitch in the Snowden area, where the Mesivta is located.
The emcee was Rabbi Avrohom Cohen, Director of development at Bais Chaya Mushka Seminary, and the sofer was Rabbi Zev Teitelbaum.
Following some remarks, Fellig and his bothers wrote the final letters in the Torah.
The Mesivta’s Rabbi Pesach Sperlin Rabbi Hershel Raskin, and Rabbi Menachem Mendel Melul were also given the honor.
Participants then headed to the street to do a long dance in the cold, soon heading back inside for the Hakafos.
