A new Torah given to Chabad of the Beaches in Long Beach, New York, was seen as a show of unity and the strong resolve of the local community to rise up once again since being devastated by Hurricane Sandy.
Along with Shluchim Rabbi Eli and Beila Goodman, hundreds gathered for a unique celebration where a new Torah was dedicated by the Kaylie family in honor of the Bar mitzvah of their son and grandson, Hudson (Hillel Yehuda).
The focus of the Torah dedication was the emergence of the Long Beach community since the storm.
Various representatives of many Jewish organizations who were part of the relief effort where in attendance, including assemblymen and City Council representatives.
Also attending were Head Shliach of Utah Rabbi Benny Zippel, Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky of Merkos, Rabbi Berel Pewsner of Chabad Hurricane Relief and Moishe Hellman of Ohel Family Services.
